How do you feel about Valentine's Day? Will you be celebrating it?

People usually celebrate Valentine's Day, but I find it very silly. You are doing all these special things because it's a special day, only once a year. You go out and have a great dinner, rent a room and spend the night, or something out of the ordinary. But it seams to me that love is out of the ordinary all by itself, there's no point in having a day to do special things, you should be doing them everyday! It seams kind of insulting even! What do you think?

that is rather odd, as far as I know st. valentine lived in the roman empire and refuse to deny christianism so he was killed, the 14 of february, because he was such a defensor of love and couples, people started to celebrate this day. i guess there's a lot of different stories.

I agree. The Valentine's day is crawling down. It's not as popular as ever before. why? Perhaps its focus has more occupied by the merchants than consumers. the taste of it becomes more commercial. True lovers can celebrate their own lovers' day anytime. So maybe, there is no need to celebrate it on a particular day.

I used to hate the holiday. It never meant anything to me because I never had someone to spend it with, but now that I have someone special I am excited that I have someone. I am driving 10 hours to see my boyfriend (we take turns driving and its mine) so we are spending 4-5 days together. I cant wait.

Hi catarina I feel exactly as you do on this holiday and Mother's day etc. You should treat each other with respect and love all year long. You should randomly treat the person you love with those little extra whatevers. As a couple you should try to set aside some time and money for those little get-aways. These holidays are all about money and pressure to prove that you love the person you are with. I don't like any of them. I love the couples that actually get into arguments because one forgot valentine's day as if it symbolized their love for each other. You are right. It is insulting. I recognize the holiday for the kids and that is it. It's fun and light when you are a kid. I outgrew Valentines day in elementary school.
