Dear mylotters, Have you ever tasted the food in an airline? I have done so just weeks ago and I really have to admit that the food is really good! It was purely vegetarian and Indian food! I traveled via Kingfisher Airlines!

Not for a very long time. Most of the flights that I take these days tend to be up to 3 hours maximum, with my last beyond that level being to Morocco a couple of years ago. Even the flight to Morocco was only just over 3 hours, so there was no real need to bother with a meal. I remember when I flew from Moscow to Bratsk in Central Siberia, around30 years ago, and they supplied an in flight meal. That was really amusing because there were on 10 British passengers, and I was the only one to actually eat the food. The other seemed quite disgusted with the food, which comprised of several small portions of local cold food, but I found it quite palatable.

yep i have, and they're tasteless, like low salt low spice everything is low in airline food, so i am not thrilled about it when i ride a plane. i just bring my own chips or soda or something

When I was growing up (in the 90's and 00's), my family used to go to Japan every summer to visit family. The flights there and back were always really long- like 11 hours. Each way we had two meals on the plane, and I never remember the airline food I ate being good. w

Hi, yes, I had taken airline meals before. I agree that airline meals do taste good, whether it is vegetarian or not. I think in order to compete in the airline industry, especially during economic slow-down, it's mandatory that airline companies not only provide cheap and good services, the meals that they serve must be of quality too.

Yeah I have as I have travelled over 30 times on a plane. WHen I used to fly with TAP the food was horrible Dan I can still remember the smell of peeling back the aluminium foil. They also had bread and butter in these little pots. Once however, I got upgraded and I got a free salmon meal which was really, really good. It tasted fantastic and was really nice. Nowadays, I take budget airlines such as Ryanair and Easyjet which don't provide meals on board and to be fair they aren't necessary to 2-3 hour flights. If I do want a sandwich i can pay an overpriced £4 or $6 and they are really quite nice, they do paninins and more and those are good too. You can always of course buy in duty free and take it on the plane while saving a few quid. In conclusion, it seems that the budget airlines do better meals though it has been about 7-10 years since I have last flown on a non-budget carrier so the european airline food may have improved. I am curious what virgin atlantic would offer on it's 9 hour London-Orlando flight Is kingfisher is the USA?
