Who is excited about the upcoming winter olympics in vancouver? i really love the olympics- winter and summer. In a way, I don't think the winter olympics gets as much publicity as the summer olympics. I wonder why that is. Hm.

I am always excited about the Olympics, but moreso this year because I am Canadian. With the Torch Run our whole country has come together and made the Olympics about the whole country and not just Vancouver. Canadians aside, I think the Winter Olympics are getting much more coverage this year because El Nino decided not to dump any snow in Vancouver this winter. It has been spring-like weather. I see on the news now that they finally got snow. Unfortunately they got fog too. I am looking forward to the Opening Ceremonies on Friday. I am looking forward to seeing who will light the big cauldron.

The summer olympics have about, I say, at least 28 sports. There can be much more such as Badminton, Chess, Rowing, among others. For Winter olympics, there are 15 with snowboarding being one of the newest. Usually for an olympic event to be approved, it must be a long time recreational sport before being considered. Snowboarding is relatively new to us, but since the winter games are in dire need to pull more interest, snowboarding became a sport easily.

I am very excited about the Winter Olympics and seeing how the Americans do this year in all sports. There are a lot of new faces competing for the US this year and hope that they will bring home a lot of medals. It is nice to see a lot of new faces as well as some who have been there before. I enjoy both the summer and winter olympics and seeing the best athletes in the world as their sports. I look forward to the hockey and the skiing events and luge.

Good point. I never really took note of the popularity comparison of the Winter Olympics to the Summer Olympics. Since the Olympics are here in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, I am far more excited, this time around. I love Vancouver and a proud Canadian. Regardless of any blunders that have come to pass so far, I am excited and looking forward to Canada taking in some Golds. failing that, I plan to enjoy the events that are to unfold in the next fifteen days. Even though it is rain in the forecast, making for a few cancellations, the fog causing low visibility for the downhill skiing, apparently the weather is forecast to break in the days to come. This will be much welcomed, by myself and thousands of others, visiting our City for the Winter Olympic Games. Overall, I feel that regardless of the season, there are the Olympic followers who are dedicated to attend and or follow.

I have never been excited one way or the other about any olympics- just was never intersted. But this year I am sitting here with my friend and we decided to take a look at the olympics since it started tonight. I have to say I am totally and completely impressed with the graphics they were able to achieve using projectors. Making the middle of the floor look as if it were an ocean with giant whales sailing thru it was totally awesome. I see myself looking forward to and watching the olympics from now on!!!

I watched some of the Speed Skating last night and it made exciting, entertaining TV. I like both the Summer and winter Olympics, as you get an opportunity to watch sports that rarely get shown on TV at other times.
