I found that line from a television show I was watching and I liked it. Personally in the moment I feel like I am existing. I am not living my life like I should and I should be doing more in my opinion. I am 23 years of age, single and live in Miami. Right now my life consist of working, going home, and recently playing video games. I am an outgoing person and like to travel, go out, and explore but lately it has been hard for me to do that. It seems like when I was financially stable I was able to do more and now that I am in a bit of a struggle I have not tried to do anything at all. My time is coming where within the next 7 years or so I would like to be married and have a child and I know I should be taking advantage of this time now more than ever. So what are you doing? Living or existing?

Today, I'm more existing than living. Always the same routne everyday, i can't travel or buy things i want du to financial problem, if only money doesn't exist... Sleeping, eating, sitting in front the computer, studying and working, it's all things that i do in my "life". Hope my life will change soon!

I totally feel you. Everyone says money isn't important but it is. I want my life to change too so I will be able to enjoy things like I use to, this economy blows..

At this point, I am definitely merely existing. Every day, I wake up and do the same thing. Get breakfast, check my e-mail and facebook, read the news, check the job listings. Take a shower, maybe do a little cleaning, and then spend the rest of the day sitting on the couch trying to figure out what to do with myself. Once in a while I practice my violin or viola, and for a short time I feel like I'm doing something worthwhile. I completely agree with your statement that being more financially stable makes it easier to do things in life, and right now my husband and I are both unemployed with no prospects. I think that existing is a prerequisite for living- before you can have a wonderful, fulfilling, exciting life, your basic needs like food and shelter have to be met. When you're spending your time wondering how you're going to pay the rent this month, it's tough to get past the existence stage.

I totally agree. My dad keeps telling me that I need to "live life" but if I am struggling to keep my rent paid right now I am not worried about doing something that will just put me more in a bind..

Of course, I am living. Existing and living are two different things.

Hi Flirtykumquat! I too feel like I am merely existing. It is not for lack of trying, as I am constantly reminded by people around me about living a little. It's just hard for me because I am also in-charge of the finances. So I try to keep a balance between living and existing. But it's hard. I try to let people around me, like the kids, to have fun. To live their own lives. Even if that means I'm just going to be shackled in mere existence.

We all do exist as this is a sacred gift from God. Living life is a matter of choice based on how you want to live your life to exist, and without guidance, life would not be blessed. Existence reflects life as you live it. Life is too short to some, so they live their lives to the fullest and enjoying all the earthly materials existing around. Life is too long for some as they tend to torment and despair on the harsh realities of life. Living to exist creates a strong determination to maximize one's life, to reach a certain dream, to be happy... Existing to live is sustaining life to make both ends meet....Happy MyLotting!
