Does anyone else ever buy anything simply for nostalgic reasons? Every once in a while, when I am at the grocery store, I will purchase a can of Hershey's Syrup. I don't mean the squeeze bottle, but specifically, I will get the actual can of Hershey's Syrup. You know, the little tin can with the brown label that has "Hershey's Syrup" printed in silver letters and has the yellow lid?..... Yeah, that! I know the squeeze bottle would be more convenient, but I sometimes buy the can just because that's the way my mom used to buy it when I was a kid. Buying the can reminds me of childhood. So does anyone else ever buy anything for nostalgic reasons only, or am I the only one? LOL

My hubby likes to buy the Crush sodas in glass bottles when he see's them. He says there's something about drinking it from a glass bottle that is just soo much better.

I don't know if I've ever even seen Hershey's suyrup in a can. I do however sometimes get Coca-Cola in a six pack of glass bottles. Both my parents remember when Coke was sold like that all the time. It's more expensive now to buy them like that, but I have to say it does taste better from a glass bottle.

In fall I buy a cinnamon broom, because my mother used to buy one and it made the entire house smell like cinnamon. I also went out and bought a Nativity scene for Christmas two years ago, because one of my favorite Christmas decorations was my mother's blue clay nativity scene.

A cinnamon broom? What is that exactly? Is it a broom that makes the room smell like cinnamon when you sweep with it? I never heard of a cinnamon broom before. Sounds interesting.

Hi, betsyraeduke. I don't know what the term "Nostalgia" means. But, I am very sure that it means, buying something that brings back memories... I know that I do buy many foods. The other day, I cooked some turnip greens and it smelled like I was in my aunt's kitchen. My uncle was an country man who could whip up a meal in a flash and he cooked good too! My aunt loved cooking barbecue chicken and it smelled like this in her house. I cooked barbecue ribs this week and it had that same kind of smell. So, yes, certain foods do remind me of back in the days of my earlier childhood.

Nostalgia: from Merriam Webster's Dictionary: "a wistful or excessively sentimental yearning for return to or of some past period or irrecoverable condition; also : something that evokes nostalgia" http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/nostalgia Your aunt's house must have smelled yummy!
