Im starting a compost pile. I have leaves and fruit and vegtable peelings into it so far. What else can I put in it? How often should I turn it and mix it up?

Newspaper, cardboard, eggshells.... basically anything biodegradeable's good for compost. Hedge trimmings, pruning leftovers...leaves in the autumn...the list is pretty much endless.

You can also put grass clippings, coffee grounds, tea leaves, egg shells, shredded paper, old mulch, lint.... Here's a good list for you to look at http://www.eartheasy.com/grow_compost.html#a I usually turn mine once a month or so(in good weather, I don't turn it in winter) or after a good rain. Since mine is an an old oil drum I also pick up worms that go on my sidewalk after a rain or left over from fishing and add them in to help things along.
