We watch sports on t.v. and Ive been noticing a lot of the players with tattoos. These are just not one or two noticable tattoos, but whole sleeve tattoos up arms, down legs, everywhere. I guess its how good of a player you are now, more than image.Personally I have no tattoos, and I dont disapprove of them,if thats what you want to spend your money on and enjoy having art on your body go for it. Do you think athletes are setting the wrong example for children as rolemodels by having so many tattoos?

Yes, i do. I think having them like that is disgusting. i don't understand why anyone would want to disfigure themselves w/so many.

I absolutely agree w/u. My son has some that i don't like & don't understand why he wants them but at least they don't show. they are all under his shirt. he would lose his job if he had one showing. That should tell him something but it didn't.

well having a tatoo is not particularly bad, but kids are likely to try tatooing themselves at a young age because its painful and can be infected if not treated well. also tatoos nowadays cost some money. but i dont think they set a bad example to children because these athletes are accomplished people, they are successful people who earn from doing what they love.

Personally I think having one tattoo or several tattoos has nothing to do with being a good role model for children. There are people who have none that are some of the worse people around. A perfect example is a guy in my community that has arms full of tattoos like a sleeve and is a well established mortgage broker. when at work he wears the traditional button up shirt and tie, and on his off time thats when you see them. He runs two charitable organizations that this past Christmas passed out thousands or toys to children in poor areas whose parents cant afford them. Where Im from those children respect him more, because he is "real" to them. He shows them that just because I look like I do doesnt mean I cant suceed and do great things. Kids look up to people they can relate to who have walked in their shoes. Kids do what adults cant, which is accept someone for who they are and not what they look like. So to each their own some may find it repulsive and a bad example, but never forget that child that didnt grow up with the "perfect" "cookie cutter" suit, tie, no piercings, or tattooed role model.

I do think they are setting a bad example for young children. Alot of kids look up to these athletes, and want to be like them. I am glad my boys do not like them and think they look bad.

In my opinion, tattoos have always been a way for a man to express how masculine and strong he is, with the bigger the tattoo, the more pain he can tolerate, therefore he must be more of a man To be honest, I don't think they are setting bad examples, as it is up to them what they put on their bodies. I don't think they are being bad role-models to kids because if a kid wants a tattoo when they are older, that's theri decision at the end of the day

hi kymomof3! One of the famous athlete that I know that has full-sleeve tattoo is David Beckham ~ in both arms. Personally, I'm not against tattoo and I, myself would want it in the future. But somehow in a way they can influence kids to have it at an early age which I think is not a good idea. But more of the mark that these athlete has their performance and skills as an athlete is more important and that is what kids are up to ~ their greatness in the field of sport.

If they are good people why does it matter how many tattos they have? I dont have a problem with them personally. I dont think I would want them because they are painful, but if you are someone who desires to have them why not?

i completely agree with you. i think that men "not all of them" who do tattoos on their bodies are lacking for manhood. there is a saying : "he lacks for manhood, so he componsate it by tattoos"
