Did you grow up expecting to go to college. Did you go? Did you finish? In my family I was the first to go to college. However, I didn't finish, because I wanted to marry and dropped out. I regret it now, but just can't seem to make myself go back.

I was expected to go, but I knew I wasn't ready considering my life at the time and all the problems I had made any desire to go slip to the back of my mind. Now that I am a little older and have resolved or at least softened the blow of some of the problems I've had, I am definitely interested in going but have no idea how I am going to afford it. I have read up on loans and grants and really would like a grant if I can apply to one for free..

There are so many grants and loans out there. The best way to get one is to spend as much time as possible applying for any and every grant that you remotely qualify for. Eventually you will get the funding to go to school. The law of attraction will be at work.

When I grew up, we were already aware that going to college is a priority. I was able to go to college. Initially I would want to take up a two year course (i.e. Secretarial Education) before deciding to take a 4 year course. I would also wanted to support myself to college by working in a fast food joint. When my father knew my plans, he was adamant that I go take a four year course and not work - he believed that if I work and earn money, I would not pursue it. My piece of advise to you is that you should not lose hope in going to college even if you only take a two year course; when you are able and have time then take the rest of the two year course. Another alternative is online education where units are credited as well. Good luck.

This is excellent advice. Sometimes a little bit of money when you don't have any money seems like a lot. You lose your focus and miss the big picture which is the an education which can feed you and your family for life.

Sometimes life gets in the way of life. I would not let anything stop me though. Going back to school and finishing your education is the best way to ensure you have a great future.
