Anyone see the movie "Gran Torino" when it was out some time back? I really liked it and thought Clint Eastwood should have gotten some kind of Oscar recognition for it either for his acting, producing, or directing. I think he even wrote some music for it. Anyway in his character's will he left the Gran Torino car to the kid, Thao, but I can't remember if he left anything to the kid's sister Sue who had been beaten and raped which caused his character to go confront the gang that did it and let them kill him, he was dying of cancer anyway, so they would get taken off the streets and punished. I thought the actress playing Sue did a really great job and her interactions with Clint's character were so matter of fact and fun that that was one part of the movie I liked the best. So, did anyone else like this movie and does anyone remember if Sue got anything in the will?

I liked the movie a lot too...and Sue didn't get anything in the will. Only Thao got the car. I remember that his granddaughter was definitely upset at the end of the movie because she wanted the car.

His granddaughter didn't deserve the car as you know.

I completely agree, the granddaughter did not deserve it at all. Thao definitely did and it gave him something to remember Clint Eastwood by (can't remember his character's name off the top of my head)

I did actually enjoy it more than what I thought actually Clint played his role very well I thought, and I genuinely felt for him as some lonely old man who was angry with his surroundings. By the way stealthy, expect some angry mylotters posting here, because you gave away quite an important chunk of the movie in your post without a spoiler warning

It never occurred to me that I was giving away a lot and needed a spoiler because the movie came out quite some time ago. I apologize for not giving a warning; in any case the movie is worth watching even if one knows the info I gave.

I loved that movie, and what people do not know is that there are some Asians Gangs here in America that are a lot like that, especially in parts of Los Angeles.

There a few movies that I like to watch more than once and "Grand Torino is one of them. East wood did a very good job with this movie. He has come a long way from playing a cowboy on TV driving cattle in the wild west and his spaghetti westerns. I want to get some of the other movies he has directed.

A really good one in which he also starred is "Million Dollar Baby" but you had better have a hanky handy.

I liked this one alot too. I don't remember Sue being left anything in the will. He did give his life to get the guys that had hurt her though. I loved the way his character came to terms with his own ignorance and prejudice when it came to his neighbors, and then his appreciation for them, in spite of all the baggage he carried around in his head.

I definitely enjoyed this movie and thought that Clint Eastwood should have gotten at least a nod from the academy. His character was really great and he pulled it off really well. There were some ethnic slurs used in this movie that I had never heard before, must be old man words. I thought it was kind of an interesting idea of immigration in general and kind of opened up the whole urban-suburban migration topic. You see the family move in next door coming to America for the first time and settling in an urban setting; and then you have Clint Eastwood's character's family migrating from the city to the suburbs because they've reached that whole second generation wealth level. It wasn't too preachy, still just a good story and funny and dramatic. Surely worth seeing.

Hello stealthy! I watch Gran Torino a month ago, I liked it very much. Some of my friends I watched it with said it was good but pretty boring at start. I liked very much the interaction among two different cultures and how people can change, even if it desn't looks like they will. I think Clint Eastwood did a great job! I can't remember if he left something for the girl, but I hope he did! I guess she can also ride the gran torino!! Well, have a nice day and keep mylotting. Libna.
