People At Work

When I moved into my new department at work, I have begun to experienced a few haters. As I am not openly expressive of my awareness, I keep it to myself for the sake of a neutral environment of which I come and go everyday. I don't want to build something and come back the next day feeling tensed and withdrawn. However it does get on my nerves and I'm beginning to add more work just so my day goes by faster. As this is a rant, I'm wondering how some of you may deal with your working environment and pet peeves with co-workers?

I have been at the company I work for for 11 years..going on 12. I have been moved around alot from several departments. Some were promotions and some were not. There are always people that group up and pick out the loner. I am the loner. You are handeling it great in my opinion because there is something to keep in mind. Something that will help you in the future. It's better for your career that you are not in that crowd. Management is not often chosen based on the fact that you fit in..it is based on the fact that you stand out. I am in management now. Keep your head up and don't worry about them. Be happy and kill them with kindness.

Thanks Jen that was some great words. Thanks for the kindness as well. I think it does take a bit more than words to break what is time and hard work. But the hardest part is being young and not strong enough that it does all break apart. However, I will take your words of wisdom and soak them in. Congrats for staying for the long haul and inspiring me as well.

Your welcome. I was in my twenties when I started there. It was tough. I just learned to keep my friends outside the workplace and keep the people inside on a professional and cordial manner. I hope things get better for you no matter how you decide to handle it

There are a few idiots, but most are very nice people. Of course, the people I work with most are 400 miles away and I'm dealing with them remotely, so I don't see most of the attitudes...

I think that's the advantage of working together without having to see each other. Why, we do that here! It just so happens that there are too many personalities in this world and we can't take it all at once. Overall, as long as there's a job to there, I'll focus on that and leave the mingling to later.

hi thuhuong thats the pits when you meet with haters in the workplace. It can get so frustrating and irritating knowing how these meanies feel, and you did nothing to incur this. Just remember who you are and keep a distance from them. When I was working in the library we had two people that were spiteful and lazy, and would slough off their assignments onto the rest of us,One of them was really vicious and would go to the manager and tell false stories about us, but she went too far and got fired. People dont get fired from the library easily as its a city government job but both of these two spiteful people did push the managers buttons too far and eventually got fired , hang in there and do not let them push you around,

Thanks so much Hatley as time in the present can make you feel quite overwhelmed by the new so I can be uncertain of the future. I'm gonna hang on tight. And so far, it's been great, I'm just gonna keep at it. Thanks again.
