Netti Pot

I just started using a neti pot about two weeks ago, and I have never felt better! I'm sleeping through the night and actually waking up REFRESHED and I don't have allergies (nor am I blowing my nose every 30 seconds!).
I'm totally amazed at how well it works. It's basically just a pot filled w/ saline (I use kosher salt and warm water) that you hold up to one nostril and pour out of the other.
Anyone have any experience w/ neti? If you have really bad allergies (or a cold or congestion), this is definitely for you.

I've heard of them and saw it demonstrated on Martha Stewart one day. I think that they look alright, but I'd be afraid it'd burn to have saline go in your nose like that. Of course that's all nose and eye drops are is saline, but still, just the way it's being put in. Sometimes even nose spray stings a bit. Does it hurt?

Glad you had good results from using it. I've heard of it but not brave enough to try it. I know I had sinus surgery a few yrs back and I'm sure this may be helpful to keep things clear.... I dunno there's something bout sticking something like that up my nose.... (remembering what if felt like to get soda up my nose OUCH!).

I have never tried a neti pot, but I've received several recommendations. I have some pretty bad allergies and allergy medicines don't work for me. I'm considering trying a neti pot finally, but I don't like the thought of having water up my nose. Is it uncomfortable at all when you use it?

I have a sinus infection. I can breathe through my nose, but my sinuses are all swollen.
So I neti'd.
And I poured about half the pot into my nose, and nothing came out the other side! So I've had, like, 4 ounces of water stuck in my sinuses for, like, 8 hours. I'm in the middle of a meeting (sitting in the back managing the projector), and my nose started draining.
Didya catch that? Salt water RUNNING DOWN MY FACE. 5834269697854 kleenexes are not taking care of this issue. Sad
OMFG.
die, neti. DIE.

I knew a few people that tried it when the Neti craze first started and they were amazed at the results. I would not care to try it, myself, but they got relief from allergies and it's particularly useful when you have a cold, so I here. Glad you're finding it useful!
