How much attention do you pay to web-grammar?

When you are on mylot, facebook, forums or other social-places on the internet, do you watch you grammar? Do you write proper sentences, captitalize certain things, punctuate, spell properly, etc? I try to pay attention to how technically-properly I write when I post things. Sometimes I do get minor typos that slip by, like typing "luckt" rather thatn "lucky" because the "t" key is next to the "y" key, and sometimes I just leave out a letter of a word by accident. What do you think about typing weird when you post things, like "TyPInG lYkE dIS"? I cannot stand it- I think it just looks and sounds so stupid! w

I pay a lot of attention to grammar and spelling, just from habit. I grew up as a voracious reader so proper spelling and grammar come naturally to me and when I see a mistake it is glaring. It particularly irritates me to see people using texting language such as "u" for you. It's a small and insignificant thing but it bothers me for some reason.

I try hard to use proper English. I am English so I have no excuse! haha But then I am old and wrinkly and I was born before the mobile phone and Facebook and 'text speak' so my old habits persist. I don't see anything wrong in the mobile phone language when used in context. For instance, I would not like to receive a letter from my bank saying my 'balance was not too gr8' but I would accept it if it was used in a mobile phone text message to me. I suppose the bottom line is that I don't like lazyness and lazy language.

No matter what I'm doing I try at all times to be do the right thing. I was taught to write correctly and it seems such a waste to ignore all that. Besides, I don't want people to think I'm uneducated, unteachable or just lazy and while everyone won't feel this way there are some that will. I could never admire someone who writes poorly and constantly uses incorrect grammar and punctuation. I see standards dropping in all facets of our lives and it alarms me. Sure, I make mistakes but I know the correct way and I try to do the right thing.

sometimes i laugh if i read them though i understand since not all of us here are native english and not even finish their college besides i also dont have a perfect grammar sometimes. thats why some are here to practice their english and this site help a lot for that aside from earning extra. as long as i understand what they mean its alright with me. besides its the content matter.

I am what some people like to call a "grammar-nazi", I whine whenever anyone makes a grammar error. Looking at myLot, I see typos too often for my liking so I usually respond more happily to a discussion which is grammatically correct. This one is nicely typed :) And I hate "1337-speek" which is quite common these days. Never have and never will use it.

I try to pay attention to my writing, because I am using this as a way to learn to type. I do not pay much attention to other people's writing unless, I can not read it. Then I can get a little unsure of what they are trying to say.

I try to correct my grammar when I see it, or sometimes I don't really care. Sometimes oddly enough even though I know it's not right, to me at that moment it sounds right or "cool" and so I don't fix it. Later I cringe thinking why didn't I fix that? but oh well! Ofcourse some letters are close to the others and it's hard to not accidentally put a t in somewhere etc!

I am particular about everything that you have mentioned. There is no point in being careless here or anywhere else as that will become a way of life and soon one will get used to bad English something which I will never accept. I am amazed at some of the spellings used while sending sms's!!! If this is continued soon we will have to write a new dictionary!!

Yes, I'm very particular about spelling and grammar. To a point. When I read things here (on mylot), in a world-wide arena, I don't mind compromising. If someone is from China or India I think it's quite impressive that they can get their point across in the English language. On the other hand, I also tutor English Comp. & Lit. I'm constantly disappointed by the papers I edit. These are college level courses so I have to assume that these students have graduated high school, or achieved the equivalent. Typo's only bother me when they are fostered by laziness. Proof what you write. After all, it is getting read by other people. In it's essence you are publishing what you write.

When i am doing a formal post, I forget all of the informal types of text. I do a good job writing because I want my message to be understood. But I do talk Like DiS when I'm chatting online with friends or even when i'm sending an email to a friend. There is no problem in being aloof informally, but the trick is to know when to turn the goofy mode off.

I'm not to big perfect grammar. I'll use punctuation, but as far as spelling goes if it wasn't for Firefox spell check feature I would never get through. Ive just always been horrid at spelling English because I learned polish first.
