I've only had the "Americanized" version of chinese food before. I used to dislike it as a kid, but now I kind of like it- I lov the chow mein and fried rice. w

Welcome to China to enjoy the authentic food here for my friends tell me it will be different between Chinese food made in China and America. This year I am going to the U.S for university start in summer so I'll have a chance to taste the authentic "Americanized" version of Chinese food...LOL... I love Chinese food! I live in the US - and where I live, we have access to restaurants of all sorts of cuisines. Now, the authenticity of these restaurants may be questionable, but I do have my favorites. We have friends who only eat at "authentic" Chinese places, so on occasion they have taken us to such restaurants. I particularly love Schezuan for the spicy dishes . . . and I love going to dim sum! Chinese wedding food is interesting too . . . dishes upon dishes upon dishes!!! I'm hungry now - hee hee.

Chinese food is one of my favorites too. I adore noodle dishes and I could eat stir fry vegetables all day long and I'm not even a vegetarian.

Real chinese food(not the fast food varieties) have always felt homey for me. My grandfather was chinese so since I was little, though I am primarily hispanic, I was introduced to chinese food and how to eat with chopsticks wen i was toddler. I once had a chinese man compliment me on how well I ate with chopsticks a very difficult food. Wouldn't he be surprised that eating with chop sticks for me is as normal as eating with a knife and fork. I never met my grandfather but my family has kept a part of him alive for me through his memories and through his countries' cuisine.

WOW~your story touched me.....I will go abroad for university this year so maybe I can hardly eat authentic Chinese food in other country which makes me upset. So I am improving my cooking skills hardly so as to do Chinese dishes on my own in the future.
