Time and time again I think about my favorite places I have been out of state. So far it's been Hawaii, the beaches, warm summer air and the friendly locals make this a top spot if my places to go. The ability to travel is so confient that I reck my brain of trying to find the next place I want to travel too. What is your favorite vacation spot? And why do you enjoy it?

One of my favorite places to go for a three-day weekend (I live in New Mexico) is Canyon de Chelley National Monument in Arizona, especially in October when the leaves start turning. The only ways you can access the canyons are by foot or 4-wheel-drive vehicle, and if you take your own vehicle, you must have a Navajo guide accompany you. To visit is like taking a giant step back in time. The women are still rounding up goats in their long skirts, the children riding their horses bareback along the river... The scenery is stunning and the history unbelievable! I've been to every state in the U.S, except Alaska, and several provinces in Canada, and Canyon de Chelley is still one of my favorite places to hike and drive. Hawaii...it's ok.

I forgot to add I've been to D. C. dozens of times...the monuments are cool, and I look forward to seeing more of the Smithsonian on my next visit (after Alaska).

My favorite place to vacation would probably be Washington, D.C. That's where I go when traveling most often. I don't tend to go to D.C. for vacation though. I tend to go there for marches which I don't consider vacation. I considered going to marches as Alice Walker put it, "part of my rent for living on the planet." It'd be nice, though, to go to D.C. and be a tourist. Somehow that seems useless though. All those resources just to go have fun.

My favorite vacation spot is a tropical island. I like to see white sandy beaches and gently waving palm trees. I enjoy going snorkeling to see colorful coral and friendly fish. I like to meet the local people, see the native wildlife and find out about the local culture. I am keen on hot weather and sunny days. I have been to Hawaii, Fiji, French Polynesia, the Cook Islands and Samoa. I loved going island hopping in the Seychelles and the Maldives. Now I have a disabled son I have been concentrating on seeing my next best vacation spot and that is an attractive looking city. When I was pregnant with my daughter I took him to Cape Town and the Garden Route. There are so many different destinations on my travel wish list. I am keen to see wildlife in its natural habitat and go to historical sites. Like I went to Central America and climbed the Mayan ruins.
