Fast Food Vs Food From Home

I have a class at night, and have found that I can eat out cheaper than bringing something from home to eat. If I bring soup, the cost is about $2.00, then the price of a drink $1.50(I like the bottle drinks that way I can take them to class). On the other hand I can go to McDonalds get a large ice tea $1.00 and a cheeseburger $1.00. Granted it is not as healthy as the soup, but it cost less and I do not have to worry about remembering to bring it. Have you noticed that it is sometimes cheaper to eat out than cooking it?

well if you could in larger portions than for yourself it is cheaper.Like if you make enough food for a couple of days and eat it before it goes bad you will spend less than buying every meal. Eating out is really expensive.

I have tried cooking a big meal on Sunday, then we can have it for a couple of days. But noone ever seems to want it the second time around. Usually the dog ends up with it.

Yes, if the portion is less than 2 person, it is definitely better to eat out than bringing food from home. Buying the ingredients usually is a big pack for enough for a family. The time required to cook, the electrical to use, and to prepare the ingredients and also to prepare the food to bring out, the efforts required could actually be reduced to the minimum if I just eat out. Also, if I dine outside, I can save up the effort to clean the stuffs. The only problem is, it's less healthier compared to what you know what you are eating if you bring food from home.

I only have a class one night a week, the others are during the day. I guess in a way I feel bad about eating out, because I send my husband and kids home to eat leftovers. I know it is not healty at all to be eating that type of food, but it is so good once in awhile.

I see. Or maybe you don't cook for that particular day which you have classes and asked your husband to bring your kids out for dinner as well? Once in a week fast food is alright as compared to daily fast food intake. My earlier response about fast food being unhealthy is with comparison to food from home and not anything personal, in case I got the wrong message across to you. Hope you understand.

My partner takes a packed lunch to work with him every day as it works out cheaper than eating fast food at the office.

I have tried to bring things from home, but since I only go one night per week, it is just easier getting it out. Since the cost is cheaper than buying canned soup or something from the store, is makes more sence to eat at the fast food place.

My problem is if I bring something, than I won't want it later in the day. So I end up grabbing something and throw what I broght to eat out.

I don't care for Kentucky Fried Chicken, and it is a little out of my way. I really like the large glass of ice tea that I get from McDonalds for only one dollar. It is large enough that it will last my whole class, and my drive home.

fast food are very tempting because they're cheap and real good. but then it's better to grab food from home because you can control the calories you put in your food. most stuff from fast food are deceiving because you'll never know how much calories it contain.

Well yes in fact especially if you are just alone. It is cheaper also to buy food which is ready than to cook for yourself only. But you are focus only on the cost let's give focus this time to the food. It's definitely fine to eat cheeseburger once in a while but if you'll gotta eat it everyday just to save money well I don't think you are actually coz you'll be prone to some sickness someday. Probably, what you can do is that you can find other alternatives like sandwiches, tuna or chicken sandwich, salads. There are salads which you can buy in stores too ready to eat. You can also buy food and bring them at home for dinner. In that way, not just you save cost but you save time also. Just make sure that you find a healthy alternatives. In a case of a big family, cooking at home is cheaper than buying outside.

I only have one class a week at night, the others are during the day. Yeah, I would very quickly get sick of cheeseburgers. They are not my first choice for fast food, but they seem to be the cheapest. Sometimes I do but the chicken salad from the store and make a sandwich before class.

In our country it's definitely cheaper to eat at home. We have our own garden, so we don't have a need to buy some ingredients for the dishes. I am surprised that you can get a cheeseburger for 1.00$ in your country. Here it's 1.40$. And large ice tea would be like 1.6 or even 1.8$ in McDonalds. And it's also a well-known truth that it's much healthier to eat the food you've prepared on your own rather than fast food.

I know it is much healthier to eat the food from home, but sometimes that cheeseburger just keeps calling me, and the price is cheap enough.

though sometimes it is cheaper eating out, but cooking our own food is much more healthier. we can choose the best ingredients and the way to cook (fried, baked, roasted, or even stemmed). we know that fast food contains less nutrition and more fat. yeah, it's more practical, but if you consume it regularly it will danger your health.

I don't eat there all the time because of the health issues. It is just weird that you can eat out cheaper than bringing the food from home. Usually I only go there if I did not make it to the grocery store over the weekend.

Just on the nights that I have class, I do not have time to go home. I usually have to leave from work and go straight to my class. I live thirty minutes away from work and school. So it would be an hour round trip to go home and eat and come back.

I often times bring food from home whenever I go to work because it is cost-friendly. Not only that, you know what ingredients that went into your home-cooked food .

I guess it depends on where you buy your groceries and also where you buy your food when eating out. For me, in my country it is quite expensive to eat out, so I almost always bring food to office. I buy groceries from the local small grocers and vegie shop which is much much cheaper than buying from supermarket. The same goes for meat and seafood as well I go to the local market as it is way cheaper and much fresher than supermarket. For one week I have a budget of 50AUD to cook for me and my husband. So thats for about 10 - 12 meals per person. It is very healthy and I know exactly what I put in the food. Compare to buying food outside it will cost us about at least 8AUD per meals per person... unless you wanted to eat McD all the time :) I like to have bottled water too - but instead of buying all the time, I refill it at home that way it saves me money :)

I wish we had local markets to buy fresh foods from. Where I am at we do not have it. I only go to class one night a week, so it is not like I eat at McDonalds all of the time. Sometimes it is just much easiier when I am rushing to class to grab a burger.

We don't eat fast food on a normal basis, just usually if we are rushing somewhere. Like me with going to class, I have to go straight from work, so usually it is easier and cheaper for me to stop by the fast food places.

I don't think I agree with what was said. AS for me, I find it cheaper to bring my own food and drinks to school and work. It is cheaper since I try to reinvent the dishes that was whipped out the night before. Or create something new, by getting fresh ingredients from the fridge. In this manner, I do not have any guilt in terms of eating "unhealthy" food, at the same time I was able to save on my food allowance.

We very seldom have leftovers, I have two boys at home not counting my husband. And on the nights that I have class, they usually eat anything that is left over from previous nights. I don't have time to go home, so I usually have to get something or bring something from home.

Well, in here, some foods are cheaper in the fast food but some foods are really cheaper when from home. But I prefer eating at fast foods, it's more convenient for me and I love the taste that my own cooked food.

You are right, sassy. Sometimes, it is more economical to eat outside than to cook at home. For your case, it's better than you eat out, as you will save a lot of hassle to bring food from home. I eat outside all the time too when I work. It's convenient and doesn't cost much. However, we cannot expect the hygiene and nutrition levels to be as high as home-cooked food.

Fast food is cheaper but at the expense of healthiness. It's high in fat , sugar ,etc which would only make u pile on the pounds quicker. Heart attacks , diabetes , etc are more likely to develop. Money vs health. I know what I'd choose. My body is a temple. Is urs?
