The World Created In Seven Days VS The Big Bang Theory. What is the right one?

In the bible , it says the world was created in seven days. "In the beginning god created the heavens and the earth" (Genesis 1:1 NIV). According to this god was the creator of all of man-kind, heavens , hell , space , water , land etc. Recently i was talking to my astronomy teacher who believes that the earth was created by the big bang that happened 13.3 - 13.9 billions years ago. I asked him do you know what the odds are of this happening and he had no answer for me. Than i said whens the last time you exploded a pack of c4 into a junkyard and sitting there was a brand new Mercedes benz? As a scientist you believe in what can be proved, as a christian you believe in faith. Which is the right one? This topic has been discussed so many times by people and every time there isn't a clear answer. So what do you think?

Am I allowed to believe that God Created the Big Bang theory and at that point in time, a day could be whatever God wanted a day to be? I don't see why I can't believe in both. I know some pro speakers in the Church(LDS) that just place it so subtly but, then that is what we all do best, finding evidences to support our believes while, dismissing evidences that don't. Does it matter how we got here? I think not, it matters what we do while we are here! Cheers.

I don't see how you can do both because there totally corresponding. And how can u believe the earth was created in seven days and still believe that the earth was a result of the explosion? This is a highly debated topic so i understand where your coming from

"I don't see how you can do both because there totally corresponding." - Things that correspond, go quite well together. And how can u believe the earth was created in seven days and still believe that the earth was a result of the explosion? - I said, God, could have a day be as long as he wanted. So, one of God's days could have been 50000000000 of what we recognize one year to be. I am happy that you understand where I am coming from. Have a great day, I appreciate you.

Why do you question the Day in Genesis 1. It clearly says That evening passed and morning came marking the first day. So We are described what a day is in Gods eyes God also called the light day the darkness night, Which equal a full day. The bible talks about a 7 day creation and that's what I believe. Genesis is the only place in the bible that the word day is ever Questioned, Why? If we can't believe Genesis 1:1 we can't believe the Bible. Check out Answersingenesis.org for more info

Hi BryceJungquist, There is no proof that the Bible is true, religion is based on faith. Science insists on proof but I don't think that they can proof the Big Bang theory either. It is highly unlikely that the creation story as told in the Bible is true although many people seem to accept it. Of course other religions have there own story about how it all began. Although I believe in God, I am more inclined to go along with science because I don't think that it disproves God, in fact many scientists believe in God. Blessings.

Hi Pose123, that is true it is based on faith. Tho how can you believe in god but not the world was created in seven days? The big bang theory has its evidence, -there has to be a begaining of a universe -galaxy's are moving away from each other at proportions speed it accordance to hubble's law -Hydrogen & Helium in the galaxy

Well I have never heard that world was created in seven days...may be because I never read bible. But the big bang theory has never been proven correct. Its the matter of what people believe. Scientist believe that world was created by big bang and religious people believe the bible. Cannot says which is true and which is false non of these are proven. The question mark will always be there until one of these is proved. Until then forget about how the world is created and lets try saving the world.

you won't get a clear answer in this kind of question just because religion and science can never meet. They are two different worlds and more than opposite. Science does not accept evidences presented by religion because for them, facts are important, while religion sometimes lands on bases of feelings and practices. We'll never know which is right.

Well, we don't know the truth about the forming of this universe. The ones that scientist often describe is theories, and up until now, we can not prove the theory because this has happened very long time ago. We lived in a complex life which contain both science/logic and spirit/soul. So we must do science, and believe in our religion. If you found that in the bible that the world was created in seven days, so you have to believe it. The problem is, how was the world created, and we can extend the question with how long was the 'seven days' that mentioned? I guess we have to keep studying.

Hello Bryce. I study from a Jesuit university and this was one of the most interesting discussions we had since a lot of people get confused between science and religion. We spent a quarter of a semester studying and explaining this but let me sum them up in a nut shell: 1. The biblical creation story presented in Genesis was drawn from Mesopotamian mythology as to how the Earth began. Given this, it is said that the biblical version of creation was not written through divine means, instead, was divinely INSPIRED. 2. What was written in the creation story should not be taken literally for the meaning of all these transcends human understanding. It can be remembered that the being of God is a mystery to us humans because his entirety is transcendental and cannot be encapsulated by human reasoning. The creation story have deeper meanings to it, hence it should not be taken literally. There is more to it than just a "story." 3. Science and religion are two different things, and it has been pointed out that where science ends, faith begins. With regards to the theories it is up to each person to choose what they believe in, if they trust every bit of explanation the big bang theory offers or the much more divine and mystery-filled version the bible offers.

When you say science, it is a proven fact, a study of something real, and not of theories. Theories are just pseudo-sciences. They are yet to be proven. So lets not put theories in the world of the sciences. I am a believer of God so I don't want to entertain a theory ever. I rather go for a nobler "creationism" than a chaotic "big bang". Your third sentence is misleading. When God created all things, he said what he created was "good". There's no hell in God's creation, yet. There was no evil yet also, everything was good. Faith to the true God is believing in reality. There's no theories in that. When you believe in God, you must believe in science. And when I say science, it is the science of proven facts and the study of something real, just like what I said in my first paragraph. Don't mislead to people that say that science and faith can't be intertwined. Human-beings' intelligence put together won't even put up with one percent of God's intelligence. My point is, who we are to understand God? Who are these scientists that goes on babbling things like Big Bang? Can they prove Big Bang in its entirety? If they can't then they might as well shut up.

Big bang theory is just a theory, so its never been proven and for the 7-day creation, it's part of religion belief. You can't cross anything about religion through science coz the two will never ever cross. In religion, we have a thing called "faith" which in science is something they can't explain, so whatever we say, those two are just in different subjects. Why do u think, there's religion and theres science if the two can be connected as one?
