We have a dry erase board at work hanging where everyone can see it. Someone has been putting it to good use by writing an inspiring message each day. Today's message in particular really inspired me. It said, "Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over every time if you just sit there." WOW! What do you think of this quote? Please share your thoughts.

That is cool that you have a dry erase board and that people put inspiring messages on it,and that is true even if you are on the right track you will get run over if you just sit there, and that shows you it is not enough to know the right way to go, you must also do something to get there, and not just stand there and wait for it to come to you, because life will pass you by in a heartbeat if you do not take the bull by the horns and live life to the fullest and if I want something I always reach for it and I will never just stand still.

I have to say that I agree with you wholeheartedly because if we want something, that doesn't mean it's just going to fall in our laps. We have to go for it. If we learn to fight for the things in life that we want, it's amazing how much more we appreciate those things because we know what it takes to work for something and achieve that goal. Thanks, my friend.

Yeah we always appreciate the things we have to work for, just like you might not appreciate money, but when you get a job,and have to actually bust your butt five or more days a week to earn it,you appreciate more, and might not be so spend thrifty and want to shop all the time,I know when I got my first job,I became a saveoholic and I never spent more than I needed to,and I always kept my money in the bank, and several years later, that money helped pay for mine and my wives wedding which made me feel good.

Hi there, JJ.. I like this discussion. In fact, I think most workplaces should have this motivational feature. I've seen this on mostly call centers and marketing companies, but rarely on those for office workers that are doing invoicing and stuff. Or for Engineers even.. I think there should be motivational sayings all the time, because we need a pat in the back and thumbs up in certain parts of our lives, for sure. Have a great weekend to you..

Oh yeah, I forget to add.. as for the saying there.. I think that is true. We can't possibly be procrastinating and expecting things to be better..there needs to be certain kinds of working hard to reach success..

I agree with you completely. This is one reason why I'm looking for a new job. The motivation is nonexistent at my company. However, I also know that leaves the responsibility to me to motivate myself. I can handle that, but I just think that I can do better than where I'm currently working. I think it's fair! Thanks so much for your response, my friend.

How neat that someone is going out of their way to inspire your co workers. I find that quote to be very true in my life, and I need to take it to heart. I am on the right track, sometimes, but am afraid to move ahead, for fear of not succeeding, but sitting still is not success either.

Thanks, Gerty! I think you said it best, "Sitting is still not success either." Sometimes we think we are doing such a great job just by being on the right track that we forget what part pro-activeness plays!

K my impression would be... We may be on the right way, road, place, time..but we have to work on being there, staying there and not just do nothing after we made our first step It's an ongoing process, struggle,..battle. There are some people who were there at a point where good opportunity was given to them, and yet and they just sat on their first laurel. And when they fail, they look back and assume they made wrong choices. It's like maintaining a blog site...you don't stop on your first article and you intend to do better the next time cause people expect some more. That was a nice quote to share with us. (^_^)

Thanks, Lipstick. I appreciate your input because you are so right. Good intentions never got anyone anywhere, but hard work and a good work ethic makes all the difference!

Jj4ever, i must tell you that i really love the quote and thanks to the person who shared it with you. It just means no matter where i find myself i should just keep pushing, no body gets satisfied with whatever position they find themselves...even rich you'll still want to get richer.

I agree with you on the money thing! If we're satisfied with our earnings, our income will never go up! That is a great area to apply this quote. Thanks for your response, my friend!
