Every year, there will be lots of skyscrapper building build. The building can be hotel, apartment, condo, tower, offices and other things. But, sooner or later, all the land available in the city will be occupied by the buildings. Do you think so?? well, if that really happens, then all of us, residents will be living in apartments instead of houses? I do not like living in apartment since there can be only one story. My house has several story and i just like that. we can renovate our own houses. What do you think?

I share your views, and I can see the future will be like that. But I hope it won't happen, anyway. It's a bad news for us who love gardening (me included). If there's no land to be planted, then we have to use the hydroponic method, which is not easy. I don't like living in apartments. I prefer living in house. In my country people who live in apartment tend to be very individualist and they even do not know who lives next door.

Much better to live in our own house, my friend because it is our own. Which living in an apartment is so weird... Have a nice day!

I think that the population is increasing as time goes by and homes need to be created for all these new people coming into the world. I heard of a new idea once and they were talking about creating floating cities! They would create this huge floating raft off the coast and on this raft they would start to build new homes and according to them this would solve the problem of over population. It's a nice idea but I guess we have yet to see whether it will work or not. I don't like the idea of apartments I think that proper houses built of brick and mortar are far better. Andrew

When I lived in Italy, we lived in a five storey apartment building. Everybody I knew lived in an apartment and the only people who had houses with a garden were the ones who owned holiday houses. It is a matter of lack of space over there. It is a little difficult to imagine now that I am living in Australia where the majority of folks live in houses with gardens. We have a lot of space here although they’ve built many apartments nearer to the city in the last few years as many are opting for life nearer to the city.

Where would the kids play if all of us lived in buildings? I remember when I was a kid I could play at the streets with my friends. What about having a garden? I want to have a garden someday.

I think it will be very simple. Those who can afford it will own the house (and it will be at the high price if not very high), and those who can't, have to stay in apartment, hopefully it's comfortable.

If you saw what it did to the land to build out instead of up, you might change your mind. I used to live in a city in the desert--it was called the Sonoran desert and was the only one like it in the whole world. Unique plant and animal life found nowhere else. People wanted houses, even single people with no families, so the city now sprawls out for miles and miles across the desert. At 55 MPH it would take you 90 minutes to go from one end to the other if you didn't hit any traffic jams. All that life destroyed, animals and insects scrambling to find habitat, residents killing the poor strays that "invaded" their human homes. The city is an abomination of excess and greed with no regard to nature. I'm single and I own a house but I bought an old one and I'm sure I would have been better off in an apartment. In fact, when my dogs die I will probably sell the house and rent an apartment--no outside maintenance, no furnace or air conditioning expenses to worry about, etc. I do love living in a house but at my age it's beginning to be impractical.

i still go for houses and not buildings. buildings can be a disadvantage when earthquakes came. specially if ou live on the high floors. i would rather live in a small house than to be on buildings. there are a lot of condos already in the philippines but on the part only of where the people can afford. i still want to have a house where there is space to breath, space were my son can run and play and i wont get that in a building.

I like my house and my garden. I suppose one day it might not be possible for most people to have houses though. Or maybe we'll slow down the birth rate eventually?

well, maybe we all will really live in apartments one day, just because of the decreasing population, which decrease every year with millions of people. But I really don't prefer living in an apartment, just because I like the house more. in the house you have a garden, there are no neighbors above you, you can listen to the music a little bit louder :)

I think in the future maybe we will all live in apartments. You could still have more than one story because you could have them set out so that there are rooms below and above but in a block instead of just one persons house.Stairs would be replaced by an elevator or maybe a spiral staircase so it takes up much less room.

I like living in my house outside a city. I've got 5 acres, but I've kept my "footprint" small and haven't done anything to the rest of the acreage, besides build a trail on it to get to the mountains behind my house. I've lived in apartments before...they're ok, but the restrictions on having animals (dogs, cats, etc.), what you can paint/not paint, gardens, etc. make them "confining".
