Are you a left or a right handed person? I have heard many a times that "left" handed persons are more intelligent and could be more successfl in life. Is it a myth or a fact? Or are you ambidextrous? Do share... Bodhi

Hi Bodhi. I'm a lefty, though I wasn't always. By what I was told I used to use my right, but after I recovered from a deadly illness I switched preferences. I have been a lefty ever since. I'm not ambidextrous. However, my sister tried to teach me to use my right hand when we were little. She learned to use both to show me that it could be done, but I just couldn't get the hang of it. Oh, and as far as the intelligence thing goes, I think it's just a myth. It doesn't prove anything. So, what about you? Can you use both? Or do you prefer one over the other?

I'm right handed and the roomie is a south paw. The only thing I know for sure about lefties is they don't tend to live as long in this right handed world Now, right handed people tend to be "left brained" so that left handed people are functioning more out of their right brain, and that's the "creative" side rather than the "analytical" side. just depends, I would probably nearly starve if I didn't have someone cut up my food without my right hand (in fact the roomie did so while my right arm was in a sling from shoulder surgery!)

I would say that we are both very intelligent, right now she's more successful, but since I'm semi-retired I don't know if that counts... I am more "crafty" (I do crafts) but that may be in part because she's blind, I'm also more graceful, and I don't know if its because of her vision, because her whole family are like bulls in china shops, big people and they move fast...

hello dear bhai, I can't say yes or no with this. I am a right handed person, but i know i am not super intelligent but not also dumb My grandfather is a left handed person but also uses his right hand. My brother is a left handed a person and was really good with guitar and also with sketching. My youngest is also a left handed, and i can tell by his age,he will make it to be a good painter if he will pursue. The common thing i've seen with my family who were left handed is,they are smart and talented when it comes to art. I don't know if left handed person were really intelligent ones, maybe coincidence or not...but,it could maybe true...

Yes, it seems as if the left handed people are more precise in what they do. Good to know that you have folks who use both the hands. Thank you Didi

I think its a myth. I'm left handed, and there are more right handed people who are more successful than I am.

hi,Bodhisatya..I'm a right handed person. so I will be so clumsy if I do something with my left hand. most of people in my place are also right handed cos there is a kinda of unwritten rule that using right hand is better than using left hand. we have to shake with right hand, eating, drinking, or giving something to another person, we should use right hand. that's why left handed is so rare in my place. and it's little wondering if there is a left handed person in my place. about myth or fact, I dunno. I never heard before.

Hmm interesting thing there you mentioned, One cannot use your left hand for eating thats like a prohibition in our culture. Our elders do stress that a child must develop his/ her habits using the right hand only. Thanks for sharing! Bodhi

hi. I am a right-handed person like the most of the people on Earth :) once i have tried to write with the left hand, but it was really hard, and no one could understand what i have written in my note book :)by the way my father is left-handed, but as i see it is not hereditary

Welcome to the club, yes it isn't hereditary. I use my left hand hardly ever except to shift gears in my car. The cars here are right handed steerings. You know what I think my left hand is even a bit thinner than the right one! have you ever noticed?
3 Mar 10
hi! No, i haven't notice that, but it is definitely weaker than the right one :)

I am left handed and everybody says left handed people are great with arts and are smart. I cannot say that for myself since I do not want to show off stuff I can do. I guess in general most of the people I know are smart, wise, artistic but of course it still depends on the person if they will pursue their being artistic.

Hmmm.... yes it must depend upon person to person. But if you have talents why not to put it at the right place my freind? Wish you all the very best, Bodhi

Hi Bodhi, I am a left-handed person. i write legibly with my left hand on the paper. i cna also use my right hand in writing but is not so good penmanship as compared to my left. but when it comes to writing on the board, i am good using my right hand. so, life is easier for me. i will not be tired because i can use either my left or right hand. the only difference is the left hand penmanship is beautiful the other. i am successful in my chosen career and i graduated with flyings colors...with honors. hehehehe...thanks for my being left-handed i made it!

Hi bodhisatya, I'm actually a right-handed person when it comes to writing. Funny thing is, I can't use scissors using my right hand, I'm a leftie when using scissors, or holding a tennis racket and a lot of things. I hadn't notice it for a long time, and it doesn't bother me. I think it's quite cool to do things with both my hands. I've heard also about the lefties being the "intelligent" ones. http://www.lefthandersday.com/intelligence.html

You must be super-intelligent to use both your hands effectively. I know a couple of my friends who do a couple of things with their right and then some other things with their left. Thanks for sharing, Bodhi

I'm right handed.I have heard about the perception too but I cannot agree with it.People who are left handed can probably develop thinking in other ways but at the mean time, they lose the chance to exploit them potential in logical thinkings, which is also crucial to people's success.

Hmmm.. good point there, Godlovesweiqi. I always do wonder how the usage of one particular hand could affect the thinking and mindset of a person. Thanks for sharing, Bodhi
