I am working in recession hit Dubai. Our Company recently decided to reduce staff as no new projects are coming up.My name was also in the list.On my last working day,my boss was supposed to prepare an employee evaluation report of all employees to the Company. He wrote in my evaluation report that I deserve an immediate promotion.I do not know why my boss, who did nothing to save my job prepared such a report. Is boss always right?

I was a boss, and heck yes, I was always right...Not. I made mistakes, but if I realized I made a mistake, I tried to correct it as soon as possible, and make any necessary apologies. Your boss, while he couldn't save your job, was doing you a great favor. He was preparing you for your next job. I hope you thanked him for the evaluation.

Your boss probably was unable to save your job. Did they let you have a copy of that evaluation? It could be valuable help in finding another position.

He might not have saved your job, and he might not have been able to do anything to save your job, but the fact that he said you deserve a promotion holds you in good regard with that company once the recovery is more stable, and might help you get a better job there once things are better financially. But no, the boss is not always right. I once got a warning for growing a "beard of rebellion" which I successfully appealed against, and for organising a mass walk out when all I said jokingly was "If a supervisor isn't here in 15 minutes, I am going" to which my girlfriend at the time who also worked where I did said "Me too!"
