Follow up after adding on as friend!

I wonder how many My Lot members actively follow up in communicating with their 'friends' after approving or get approved by the friends request. I get a feeling that it is a under utilized feature, as if after adding a new friend to profiles, then just leave it as that, like it never happened.! I am sure there are members who regularly correspond with each other via this feature, then again, there are those who after adding on as friend, besides the usual courtesies of 'thank you for adding me ..' la di da'' , then just move on back to the regular posting and responding of topics, and hardly ever use the friend feature to message each other..contacts between friends and them are very few and far between and for some , never happens. As if there is no difference at all using My LOt,just curious in wondering actually how active are you in using the friend feature in relation to the no. of friends you have added to your profile?

I have lots of friends but i didn't get any mail form them apart from some referral links. I also don't write to them. I did offer help with websites and to tell some good movies and some people added me but never wrote or replied to. But i do think if interest comes from both sides friendships can also be made by using mylot.

Actually that's a very interesting point you brought up there. I myself am guilty of not keeping in touch as much as I should but I do read the Mylot digests & am in regular contact with a few. And if I see something inteeresting in the Mylot Digest I respond to their discussions, etc. In fact I think it's an awesome tool to basically give us the proverbial "boot in the seating apparatus" to keep us practicing good communication w/our contacts/friends & to keep this community active. I'm wondering what others think of this...

It takes two to tango I have many names on my frend list and with several of them I communicate a lot and with others never. The ones who never communicate are usually the ones who requested me and I added them thinking that they might have wanted a chance to be able to contact directly but that didn't happen. I leave them there though as who knows that one day...

Almost all in my friends' list are those who I have added after I received their request. It has stopped at that and we have not exchanged any communication but may be with time I might interact. I do check on their activity and take part if I find the discussions interesting.

I respond more to my friends in discussions. I try and PM when I either accept them or they accept me. I did have a question and I PM'd one of my friends. I am open to all my friends and anytime someone PM's me I will answer them. I do support my friends as much as I can on their discussions. Just as I see that they support me as well. You can still get to know them by the way they answer a discussion. I think most of us communicate through discussions than just through PM.

The Digest is a list of the most popular discussions for the previous day. You can choose to receive it by going to your 'preferences' at the top of the page and then to 'notifiers'. It will show the top 10 discussions in each of 10 interests that you have added.

I joined as a referral to one friend, and then others joined as referral from other QnA site. They already were my virtual friends, with them I interacted daily. I knew their interests. I liked them and they liked me too. Then I sent my friendship request to some whose topic of discussions I liked. I wanted to receive their updates so I could participate in their discussion. Some sent me friendship requests for the same reason. Right now, the interaction is limited to regular posting and responding to topics.

Beh in reality i think everybody cna be my friend here on mylot!!Normally i add and accept friend requests when other send me!!So in many cases it can be useful because you can read and answer to many discussions related together depending from interests or different topics!!
