Experts say anyone can ask for a better price..but do you know anyone who can whittle a price down? I have only ever seen my dad do this and I am amazed every time. Are you like me and just pay the sales price?

I tend to get annoyed with people who do that. Prices are marked that way for a reason, and unless you're offering something that most buyers can't (like buying a big ticket item outright instead of financing it) then you really shouldn't attempt to talk the seller down. The only times we've ever tried to talk anyone down on a price is when buying a car. When we bought the Durango it was marked at over $3,000 and we talked them down to $2800. With hubby's Grand Prix we just bought we talked him down $600. We probably could have gone a little lower, but we're not good at pushing our luck!

My mother is good at it :D She got me a Nintendo DS for about $25. It's really fun doing it, going from shop to shop bargainin'.

My neighbor's live-on-site maintenance guy is supposedly good at haggling. By what I was told by my neighbor this guy never pays sales price. My husband and I don't normally haggle, at least not with regular everyday items that we buy. However, my husband was a great negotiator when he bought our car a couple of years ago. He got the car for thousands less than what it was going for! Happy mylotting!

I am not really good at haggling with prices. I often just buy and pay right away as what the price tag has indicated. Although I know of some people, friends of mine mostly ladies who are good at haggling. Perhaps its inherent in them. But in my case, I really feel shy doing it. I know that there is nothing wrong with such, but I just don't do it.

Hi and a happy day to all! I know the best person that knows how to haggle and that person is so close to me. He is my husband and he is really good in doing it. We often go to garage sales, sunday markets and i always love him getting the reasonable prices of the products. Haggling is not that difficult task to do, its about interaction between vendor and a seller meeting the price that fits. Enjoy haggling!

I can everywhere except chain stores. I try to get my wife to bargain at garage sales etc. But she won't try. She pays whatever they ask for. Never hurts to ask for a discounted price I feel. As always..... HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

There's no such thing as haggling other than at rummage sales & flea markets around here. I just buy the cheapest I can get. I watch my sales and I know what's a good deal. Though I've been told I have a 2nd cousin who'd go into stores and demand a discount for any lil thing wrong with something instead of picking a perfect one she'd go to the counter to haggle a better price & that's in a regular ol' store.

Well, I can say that I am the one that would be able to negotiate for a lower price, but I think I wouldn't be able to get a huge discount. However, one of my friends is really a man of the market - he always struggles for lower fees and sometimes it happens even then when we have some deals between us going on. But usually he can't break me, I stand my ground and keep the price or terms I would be satisfied with.

I pay the sales price..my husband will try to bargain for everything and I too am amazed at the ease with which he does it and the number of times he has gotten us a better deal.

I like ot get a bargain and my husband is a brilliant haggler. I cannot remember the last time we made a major purchase without him getting something else thrown in for free. When we bought a new fridge freezer he managed to get us a kettle for free and almost everytime he goes to his steel suppliers he comes back with something he got for nothing. It's quite remarkable really, but for the most part I just stand there looking embarrassed.
