My mother bought me and my little brother both emachines E627 for christmas. I used mine for about 4 hours and then it turned off would not start up again...The boot logs from a memory chip of ram went missing. My mom had to completely reinstall windows 7 for it to work. Now it works fine but i wouldn't recommend them to anyone.

Thanks for sharing. But its not fair to discard a brand/model of laptop, just because it crashed once. There may be reasons like virus/worm/trojan attacks responsible for Crash of the laptop

It may not have been a virus or a worm, it could have just been a corrupt install. Or a dodgy update from Microsoft that we've been hearing a lot about. To be fair, just because Windows 7 crashed once and was unrecoverable without a complete reinstall isn't a reason to write off a laptop. Software problems are 10 a penny. If the memory was corrupt or the processor was under spec, that's a reason to write off a model of laptop. Personally, I use Linux to avoid such problems as worms, viruses and unrecoverable crashes. And it's my own tailored edition to make sure that if stuff goes wrong, I more or less know why.

I think there is no hundred percent efficient electronic machine available and there is no guarantee for the electronic products. At any time any component may fail. After re installation,if the pc is working properly means, the fault is with the corrupt operating system.
