Well, for those of you who have been missing seeing me around here, I truly appreciate your kind thoughts and Prayers. When I first started having issues with my leg I kept on thinking it will heal on it's own and everything will be OK. Well, it would heal a little bit and then somehow it quit trying to heal and became the Chronic wound. So off to a Doctor I went for more Antibiotics and a referral to the Wound Care Center who deals in Chronic wounds. I unfortunately have had to try 2 different wound care centers this time due to one being non caring... But I will leave more of this for another discussion. So for the most part a lot of what they have been doing there is debreading my skin, which means cutting away the dead skin so the New skin can grow around it, or underneath it. It can be a little painful but at the same time, it is a necessary thing for them to do. It can be quite expensive as well, but I do have insurance that covers 80/20 after the first $250. The other nice thing, is that after you spend $2000 out of pocket, there is no other expenses and this counts for everything, as long as pre approved thru my Insurance. I also found some stuff via doing an online search (via myLot search) for natural stuff and help for Chronic wounds, and did find a product called Terrasil. I have been using the product since Friday and starting to see some Great results with it as well. It for me has been a life saver for sure. But a lot of my issues with having wounds stems from me being Diabetic and having problems with wound trying to heal. But things are getting so good with it for the most part, that my Sugar levels are reading a lot better now as well. Continued Prayers are appreciated until this is 100% healed and I know God is in control and great things will continue to happen for me as well. ~~TINA~~

Thanks Tina for the update. I don't know whether I am having the same kind of skin problem like yours. But mine is a very recent case. It happened in late January when I develop blister like wounds on my left leg and have red patches over my leg. I didn't bother much as I expect it to heal by itself too. When the blister grew so big like the fist of a 5 year old kid, filled with fluid I panicked and have to rush to see the doctor. I was given antibiotic, and cream. It didn't totally cure it but the blisters were gone but the red patches are still there. The whole leg is a little swollen. I use coconut virgin oil to rub my leg and it is showing some improvement as the red patches are getting smaller and not too obvious. I have gone for blood test and the result show that there is no sign of diabetese.

Zandi, that sounds an awful lot like the weeping edema some of my patients would get in the nursing home. I am glad you went right to the doctor. Some people have to go on diuretics and get special bandages for it. Please do everything your doctor tells you to do so you can be healthy. It is also good news that you are not diabetic.

Wow, lots of good information there, Tina. I am curious enough that I will go look up Terrasil pretty soon. It is also good to hear that your sugars are being pretty stable. You are very proactive to quit one clinic because they did not seem to be caring or meeting your needs. Debridement does not sound fun at all, but I know it is necessary. Does it get less painful as you do it on a regular basis? I wish everyone had good insurance coverage. Is this interfering with your work?

Hello Tina. While feeling sorry to hear about your chronic wound, I am glad to know that you have found some nice and helpful medicine for it. It is good to know that you have got medical insurance. It is hard to imagine one without medical insurance when one gets sick. Years back, I started to buy this kind of insurance and pension insurance. It is a must for us to have at least these two insurances to make sure that we can be more prepared in case somethings happens and when we reach the retirement age. It is wise of you to have got the insurance. To be always prepared in advance is better than never. Here I am praying for you to get completely recovered from your chronic wound. Take care, friend.

Yes, having Medical insurance these days is a plus, as I have been without before and wonder how I ever survived. Personally I think it was by the Grace of god.

Hi Tina! It sounds like you really have had a time. I'm just glad that you found a good caring doctor to see after you and that you are doing better. It's good to have insurance, isn't it? I don't know how we would make it without it. I just wish there was a cure for diabetes. It's a terrible disease, I know. I'm also glad that you found Terrasil. I don't know anything about it but I'm glad it's helping you. Please know I will be praying for you. Kathy.

Yes, it has been an interesting start to 2010, but I am learning a lot about myself and Diabetes and how to treat wounds more each passing day I experience with this as well. I know sometimes things happen for a reason, and even if it is taking a while things are getting better which is a plus for sure. As for a cure for Diabetes, that would be nice. I know most people who are playing around with it now may also one day experience something that will make them think and wish they could have taken better care of themselves later as well. Also since many doctors refuse to Test most people for it, it becomes and interesting trial as well. Maybe someday this will be not so much of a curse for so many as well.

I'm so glad to hear your wound is recovering. Those diabetic wounds are slow and hard to heal - and the foot doc had to debreed the roomie's sore too. but for a diabetic she heals really well, better than I do, but I've always been a slow healer and the fibro seems to make it worse

It is nice to hear from you KrauseHome. I’m glad that you are seeing a little improvement in your leg. It is important to find caring medical facilities because sadly there are several that will take your money but don’t give enough care. I’ve heard of Terrasil but I’ve never used it, I’m pleased it’s working for you. The power of prayers must be showing through, will keep them up. Hope things keep improving...

Hi Tina! I'll pray for you to get well soon. My Mom is also diabetic and it's hard for her wound to heal once she get one. She takes her medicines regulary as advised by her Doctor but aside from that she also takes herbal tea and other natural medicines. My Mom was not ever employed and just stays at home to take care of us and the home. I got her an insurance aside even if she is already covered by my father's medical insurance. I live far from them as I already have my own family but good thing that the youngest among us (my younger sister) who is a Nurse still lives with them. She's the one taking care of my parents. Good thing that you have your insurance and that you found a center that suits you and your needs. Take care! :)
