everyday including sunday and public holidays, my postbox receives plenty of flyers and pamplets on slimming, toning our bodies, firming of hips and breasts, eye brows embroidery , double eye lids cosmetics surgery, etc . besides these vanity flyers, there are flyers on cosmetics, buy 1 free 1 and so on and so forth. mind you, they are making money as many women especially are sold on to these products as majority wants to look like models, beauty queens and to catch knights in shining armours. some just want to raise their self esteem as they are in the business line and want to look and feel good. feel the glamour and after all thry have the money. these marketing strategies and advertisements play on our weaknesses to part away with our money. i have many friends enrolled on these schemes and they are retainers to these outlets. well they do look better with all those makeups.and for the firming etc, they look trim, toned and firm but once they relax, everything collapse and sink. so they are back at these centres for follow up and somehow or other, they are please with the result. when they go for slimming saloons, they really watch what they eat and stay slim and their constant companion is the weighing machine. they like their looks in the mirrors and they told me its all wortth the effort, time and money. looks like i am the one left on my own' pretty like the farmer in the den nursery song.

I think a lot of our vanity is driven by what we see on TV and on the covers of magazines. The airbrushing technique used in many print publications makes people appear to be flawless. Often people don't realize that these photos have been re-touched and they aspire to be like their idols nonetheless. This can lead to spending loads of money at the salon, the makeup counter and the plastic surgeon.
