House made of wood or concrete cement?

Despite the fact that I find wooden buildings to be very attractive and desirable, I would have to choose a house made of cement or brick every time. A house is a rather expensive item and whatever type of material is used it needs to be constantly maintained and repaired. The benefits of a wooden home do not compensate for the extra attention and expense that would be required to keep it in a worthy condition.

Here in my country wood has become a rare commodity like gold due to mass cutting of forests, so you won't find any new house made from wood; all houses are made of cement concrete and rod; they last for generations, need less maintainence. Prof.Dr. B.Saraf. PhD

I prefer house made with cement. It is more tough and able to withstand strong winds as well as invulnerable to termites. Besides, cement house is better in fire proof compared to wooden house. The house made in cement is more expensive than house made with wood, in my country. The wooden house is cheaper but it's less suitable for tropical weather.

I think that I would be going to build myself a house in the future, I would choose the log house. Modern technology allows us to build very durable and cozy log houses. Wood is natural material, so I think I would feel myself more comfortable inside the log house, than in a concrete one.

Hi! yes, it is right- houses made of wood are really more comfortable, the atmosphere is different and more relaxing and also they look better. i have always dreamed about a house of wood just like in the movies or the mountain cabins, where i can lie down on te bed and read my book in silence. i also know that they are more spared for the nature, because there are no harmful staffs in it!

My house is built of insulated concrete form (ICF). It has a r-factor of 52, which keeps the temperature in the house pretty constant, without having to run the AC in the summer and the heat pump in the winter. The ICF would work a lot better if I didn't have 40 windows in the house!

Considering on how will the house withstand natural catastrophe I'm sure that concrete houses have the advantage. Yeah and considering pests in the future..I like concrete house better.

Hi intelpink, Actually the cost of house whether it is build from wood or concrete is depend on the area. Just like here, it is more cheaper to build a house using concrete because the price for concrete is much cheaper the a quality woods. Of course you do not want to build a house from low quality woods. It would not last long. I have stay at the wood build house and a concrete house. If I had a choice I will prefer the wooden house. It is cooler inside the wooden house especially during night because of the humid climate here. If you choose the right woods to build your house, pests would not be a problem.
