Are you happy with your job?

A lot of HRD gurus claim that when you are happy with your job, you are more productive and hardly get tired, even after a long day at work. However, there are those who are not happy with their jobs. What do you think is the best option for people who are no longer happy with their jobs? Do they quit, even if there's no job waiting for them? Or do they simply suffer through their jobs just to eke out a living?

Practical answer would be to stay in your current job if you do not have a place to transfer in. Even if you are not happy with the job you are in right now. Reason for that is your survivability if you quite for the reason that you are not happy with your job. Will quitting make you happy as well probably not especially when there are very few opportunities that can give you the exact amount you are being paid by your employer. Best option I can think of is really to look for a job that you think can replace your current job without the hassles of getting out of job. If you found such a job then you can practically say that you are safe to resign from your current job.

for all practical and survival purposes, that's a very good point, rsa. quitting without a job waiting will be jumping from being unhappy to misery. thanks for the response.

It's not smart to quit your job if you don't have another job waiting for you. When I don't like a job, what I do is look for another job while I'm still working. When I find another job that I like, that's the time I resign from my current job. Of course, I also make arrangements with my next employer so that they could wait for my contract with my present employer to end. Here in the company where I work we have to wait 30 days for our resignation to be effective.

there is nothing like doing a job that you really like...if you are not happy with your job but can't find any other work, try to find something to like about it..learn to appreciate it and then maybe you won't feel too bad everyday you have to report for work. but if you really can't find anything good about it anymore, why suffer? look for a new job, there will always be something out there, sometimes it doesn't apy that as much but at the end of each day..you are happy! ^^ and it's he most important thing.

things don't always seem to be what they really are. even in challenging job, you can always look for the things that can really lift your spirits. say, the people you work with and many others. thanks for the response, jade.

I like my job but there are plenty of things at my job that I'm unhappy with. I'm mostly unhappy with the administration and how things are being run. I hate how they're trying to deny us so many things that shouldn't have been denied. Otherwise, the kids at my job make it worth it. If someone isn't happy with their job they need to quit and find something else to do. They need to be happy because if they are not happy with their job they are going to be miserable for a very long time.

but ours is not a perfect world, highflyingxangel. we can always look at it from the bright side. but, of course, we can always do something about the opposite side. thanks for the response.

Hi, friend. There are indeed many people who are not happy with their jobs for various reasons. Some complain about the low salary, others find no interest in what they are doing. Whatever the reason, it can never be wise to quit the current one without any other jobs at hand. One may fall into a tough situation without any financial support. A good way to deal with it, though it may not be the best way, is to find out the reason why you are no longer interested in that job. Is it because you've been doing the same things over and over for so many years and there is nothing new about it? If it is, then try to recall the initial period when you just started work and figure out why you were interested in the job at that time. Force yourself to do it as you did in the beginning and experience again that passion. In a couple of days, you'll find that passion is back within you.

that's a very practical way of handling unhappiness in one's job. find out why you are not happy with your job. then work out something that can make you happy. in the first place, you applied for the job. so initially, you must have liked it... even for survival reasons, there is still an appreciation. thanks for the response, my friend.

i don't think it is practically to lose a job right now. there are already lots of jobless people who wants to get a new job even if the work is not related to their studies. if they can get the job, there will surely be happy, being unemployed. now for those who are not happy with their present job, i think it is not a good advise to quit and look for another which will make them happy. maybe they can get a new job, but not too soon. there are still some people who are more deserving who do not have jobs, what more to others who will only try the field they never studied. i am happy with my job, though i still look for some improvements in the near future. thanks god, i have a good job.

That is a good question. I am a school teacher. And I think that can be both one of the most rewarding professions and one of the most frustrating professions. At times I love my job and at times I just hate it. February was a rough month and I am on a much needed spring break right now.

that is why teaching is also called a noble profession. it is full of ups and downs. and when you appreciate the ups more, you have the better end. but if you drool over the downs and whine more about it, you end of unhappy. so, when the tough months are over in teaching, the good ones usually follow. thanks for the response, sbryan.

Yes, I am quite happy with my job. The company is very good, doing very well too. The people are very nice, friendly, and cooperative. My colleagues are like family members. One thing I enjoy with my job is the possibilty to travel to places around the world. I like traveling, and meeting with people of different nationalities and cultures.

thanks for the response, greenline... you seem to be really happy with your job and a lot of people, particularly those who are working just for the money, will envy your almost-perfect employment situation... again, thanks for sharing...

I think that people make these choices based on their situation. I am by no means fulfilled by my job but I have children to raise and they are number one. When they are grown..well..that may be a different story.

that's called priorities, jenintn. knowing them gives you a pleasure you may hardly find in the workplace. so, coming home to the kinds and knowing the benefits they have from you job takes all the load off your shoulders. thanks for the response, my friend.

I like being a teacher cause I really just want to talk and talk. I am a teacher by profession and being a teacher is a lot of work. There are a lot of work but I really dont earn that much. I am an online English teacher now and I teach Koreans. I love my students but I dont like our company. There are so many rules in the company that I think illogical cause its pointless. We also have a manager whom we dont know why he calls himself that. lol I just wanted to work for a better company who are more concerned in meeting both ends. I hope to find a better company where I can really devote all of my time and attention.

you can always use your present job to find a better company that will appreciate what you have to offer better. you sure are lucky, you don't have eye contact with the company you are working for (are they koreans?)... you can always find a better company to work with... good luck and thanks for the response.

Hi! Once person is no longer happy with her/his job it won't create a pleasant environment at all,no more signs of dedication in his the job and less interest about it.But If no other options but to stay ,as of these days its hard to find another job, then stay in your current job till you can have a new choice and a good reason to leave.Be patient for the time being, and think of something better for you to make things in order. Happy myLotting!

that's a good way of suffering through a job one is not happy about. use it to find another one. in the process, while looking, be more propitious to avoid another of the same. thanks, cloud.
