hey! i know this family where the son got married recently and his wife left him after 3 months after having a big discussion with his and her parents. but later on she filed a police complaint on them that they've harrassed her for dowry and even tried to burn her! the police had gone to the guy's house and taken them to the station. just imagine how embarrassed they would have felt. the years of respect they've built up just came down in a second because of this girl!! i am happy that if a girl complaints, immediate action is being taken but don't u think she is taking advantage of this!?? that means our government is not fair right!?? without proof, they're taking steps cause a girl filed the complaint!

I know many crazy @$$ women out there. These women leech onto people, and then, when you least expect it, they get you for everything that you are worth, even if you aren't worth anything. This girl is taking major advantage of this and if she keeps "crying wolf" like this, people are going to expose her for what she really is. The family might want to start finding dirt on this girl to use against him in case she does this again, or better yet, file for divorce and then get a restraining order against her.

khalida are you sure the girl was lieing was it proven she was, because if she was telling the truth they should have been stopped. I dont know where this happened but here in the U S the accused are considered innocent until proven guilty. if the girl was lying then by all means she is guilty but if not the people should be stopped; we do not have dowries here and we treat one another much better evidently.

Well not all, because most of the murders, crimes (that happen in (civilization) happen in the USA. At least I think it was like that. Or then it was that: There are more murders and crimes in the USA, than any other nation. I'm not sure about that, but at least the movies give that kind of an image. But maybe your neighborhood is exceptionally nice... Who knows...

Sorry to hear about that. Even though they are in a rough spot right now, I hope the situation gets better for them. The government would be right to take it slow and study the whole situation before acting but immediate action without proof is different and would be wrong. Just because she is a woman, she is being given attention by the authorities. They should have analyzed everything, the side of both parties, proof, and witnesses if possible, before making action because that would be very unfair.

Yes this has happened many times. If ur from India ths trend is fast catching up. Women are using law to make some fast easy bucks. They are misusing the Anti Dowry Law to harrass men for no valid reason. In several countries law give lot of imprtance and respect to women and her words. Even though law is blind to gender bias yet inherently women are given more respect wich is now being misused.

i totally agree with you!! i've come to think there are a lot of loopholes in the way the system works!! some cases, watching the groom's people, the police itself realizes that they're innocent but nothing can be done cause a girl has filed a complaint! plus i don't understand how the girls can be so carefree!! any case can be put against here or the entire table would be turned around right!! she doesn't care about her respect... cares more for money!!?? damn!!

Hi khalida, ya there are several of cases where the girls took advantages of the laws of govt. in their favor, and in these kind of cases the other side always get suffered due to such stupid girls, I think if you want to leave anyone then leave him peacefully and that's it, why do you suffer him and his family for the faults they didn't make, I am also the witness of two cases about dowry problem, and I know the other families very well, the girls suffered them in two ways firstly they leave their husbands who loved them so much, and secondary they destroyed their social respect and proved them criminals. one should not suffer anyone without any genuine cause. thanks

I think you have to understand what due process is. I do not know how it is in your country, and I do wish to offend your culture. As a general rule, when a person, not limited to women, files a complaint with the police, the police will have to investigate, which sometimes mean that the accused will be brought to the police station to be questioned. In practical terms, the groom's parents are not guilty just because they were taken to the station. The police are merely doing their job, looking for evidence that a crime was indeed committed. I surmise from your discussion that harassment and burning are crimes. This is true even if a man is the who filed the complaint. I suppose if no crime was committed, the parents will be released.
