If you were to define your life in terms of dance, what would it be?

Dance imitating life - Comparing life to dance

I recently raised a discussion here where I explicitly expressed that I couldn't dance! Even to save my life. Anyway, I recently saw krumping. And I was amazed at how it looks like what I feel in life. Like too much anger, too much energy just wanting to burst out. And it is even adaptable to one's personality! Although I may think that my life is just like what somebody here called a 'bar dance', there are certainly days which I feel like krumping. How about you? Would you compare your life to a tango? A jazz dance? Dirty dancing perhaps?

My life is like a slow , romantic dance , just for two. The type of dance where Everythingand everyone just disappears. It is sweet and warm and it is timeless. Before I wouldn't define my life this way. I would have said it was elevator music, dull and invisible. No one wants or will dance to it.

I have gathered that about you Sarah. You're miles ahead of me. You are in a state where I could dream of. Thanks.

It will be Foxtrot because of it's elegance. At times, it feels like Dirty Dancing or Swing. Boy, I miss ballroom dancing!

Hello sabrinafox89. From your response, I can tell that you're an elegant person who has a mischievous side. And you express it through swing or dirty dancing. Thanks for the response and keep on dancing!

Hello, Bounce. What a great topic. I think my life would be a flamenco - traditional, but with fun, fire and passion. The flamenco is a very expressive dance, as all the hand movements and the way the dancer uses the shawl have specific meanings. As a writer, I'm told I'm very good at expressing myself, so yes, I'd say my life is a flamenco.

Hello again. I know what you mean about not being able to look away. When we go to a live flamenco show, I'm always mesmerised by the performances. I'd love to learn flamenco, but I think maybe it's a bit late in the day now. Still, never say never.

Oooh! I've seen this, I've seen this! I think it was one of those features on TV about Andalusia. It was exotic and yes indeed very expressive. I remember not being able to take my eyes off the TV while it was showing. Thanks Sandra, nice to know that I know somebody here with a flamenco personality.

With the schedule we have around here and all of the kids coming and going I would probably have to say it was the twist or the jitterbug..always in motion but with a design to it.

I have days like those too! Wherein I have to twist constantly just to get through the day, or shall I say finish the dance music. 2 goals in 5 seconds! That's extremely lucky! And a SH to take the lead? Darn! And then win with no time left?! Aaaarrggh!

hello bounce58, great!!! and what a subject. never heard of it in any discussion here but that doesn't mean we can't talk about it. i've not heard about krumping. and i'm not a dancer either. but if it could save my life i certainly would. if there is one dance i could compare my life with, that would be a traditional dance, not tango, not jazz, but what i used to see while growing up, not in the city, but in some rural areas. i often got teased watching it. friends would say it wasn't the dance but the dancers that captivated me. i wished i could have proven them wrong.

Hello tomitomi. Maybe it's not too late to prove them wrong. Maybe you could still impress friends with some tango or jazz if you put your head into it. Or your feet. Thanks for responding.

A lap dance? Seriously more like I'm standing back watching other people dance!

I get that feeling sometimes. The standing back, not giving or getting the lap dance.

I can't image any dance for my life, I just think my life looks like walking, just step by step to walk,to improve, sometime I feel very boring in my life. I don't like walking, jump is better.

Maybe it's just too early in your life to feel the dance. That walk and jump that you do is the start of a beat that would soon turn into a dance. Thanks for responding. And welcome to myLot!
