Addicted to the internet? Real issue or not?

I use the internet daily, partly for my job and partly for entertainment. Not a day goes by that I am not online at some point and often for far longer than I had planned to be. I wouldn't say I am addicted but I am rather strongly attached!! How about you? Are you on the internet more than ever? Do you lose track of time sometimes while blogging, surfing etc??

well I have an online business on top of browsing around online for fun or getting on here to try to earn a little bit of cash. I will have to be online to make money so it is not like I can not be online for days as I will not make any money that way so it is not an addiction, but a necessary thing for me to be able to earn money and if i am not online I wouldn't know if I made a sale or anything, and if I'm not online then I can't make any earnings on here or any of the other sites that I do either.

My business is online based too. So it's hard to divide the time I spend working and playing sometimes. That is why I said for me it's an attachment. My laptop got stolen back in October and it took me several days to decide on a replacement and boy did I miss it. It was awful trying to get to the library to use their pc to run my business, even if it was for a short time. And you are like me, if I'm not online every day, I won't make any money! Hopefully now that Spring is here, I'll be able to do some work outside to enjoy the sunshine! Gotta love a laptop for that one! Thanks for sharing! Hope all is well by you! Take care and be well!

i use internet only for entertainment..But i cannot say that i'm addicted to internet.. My time keeps on rolling if there is no internet.. I hardly need a 15 minutes of internet daily for checking my emails .. So i can survive if i have 1 hour of internet daily.. Playing online games, blogging , social networking are the special parts of internet in my mind..

There is so much to do on the internet and yet one does need to balance it out with the real world. I am so happy that it was nice enough outside that I was able to take my laptop and sit in the sun and work, all at home! My business is online so the only real negative thing I have to say is that my work is always waiting for me and there's always more that can be done! Thanks for sharing! Take care!!

Wow, I don't think I could sit still for 16 hours! I work online and play online but it's broken up all day. So maybe if I think about I do spend about 12 hours sitting...yikes... No wonder so many people are getting fatter! Too much internet and sitting around. Now they need to come up with a more mobile way to use the net so you can jog or run or bike and still be online. The tiny screens on the smartphones just don't work for me. It's funny how mylotting has become an almost daily thing for me! Thanks for your comments! Take care!

I think I would say I am strongly attached to the internet too but not addicted. I say this because I have so many activities on the internet. I check my e-mails, go surf, play games, go to Facebook, go to my DeviantArt, sometimes do some shopping, and many more. It's really funny but the internet is my social life. I would prefer friends sending me e-mails over calling me by the phone (although I like it when friends get the chance to ring me ). I could go a whole day without the internet but I would think about certain stuff if there are pending activities like I'd like to know if my myLot has updated, that kind of stuff. I sometimes lose track of time when I use the internet. Even when there's nothing to do but surf for nonsense stuff, I get to stay up late, as late as 5 am of the next day. It sure is fun to use the internet but I sometimes remember the days when there was no internet yet. I can't live 2 days without the internet but in the past, it never mattered because it did not exist yet. Nice topic. Take care and have a nice day!

It really has become so much a part of our lives that few of us don't use it daily for one reason or another. I know that many companies have started limiting access since so many staff were spending too much time on social sites rather than working. I'm like you in that I use it for work so it's an extension of me in many ways. Tho I still prefer chatting directly to texting or e-mailing. Thanks for sharing!

LOL. That's a very interesting way to think about it. Just ask yourself how you'd feel if there was no internet? Then you might feel abit differently. Take care!

Without net I would have to buy a clock, that's the first thing xD and yea, I would go out more, paint more, talk on the phone more, stuff like that, not really addicted to net, can live without it, but it's more convenient and fun with it :)

Yes, I definitely do lose track of time, as I will be posting or doing other things online, and I forget to eat when it is time, which isn't good i know. It is hard to tear myself away from the computer long enough to eat, but I really do have to take a break once in awhile, to give my eyes a rest and my hands as well. I don't know what I would do without the internet as I would be lost. It hlps me to make a little extra money each day, and I also can communicate with my family on facebook. So in a way I am addicted, or attached as you said. I have to learn to get off at certain times though, so I don't overdo it. Good luck to you and happy mylottubg,

You just made me feel so much better! I too forget to eat until sometimes I get abit cranky or a headache and then realize why! I like the word attached because I can walk away from it but for me it's how I make my living so it's like a phone for some. Now that it's finally warming up, I'm going to take my laptop to the back yard or park so I can enjoy the Spring and Sunny weather! Love your rose! Thanks for sharing! Take care!!

Being attached and addicted is a really thin line for me . My life currently is revolved around internet, from I woke up first thing I do is checking up facebook account, and then at work I also use internet for work and leisure purpose, when I got home I also open the internet. So my time pretty much spent on the internet, that even my parents don't get to see me around in my house pretty often since I just go up to my room to open my laptop after I arrive at home from work.

I think you are like many of us in that the internet is part of business and recreation so the line gets blurred. Tho since you live at home, I hope that you remember that your folks won't always be around so spend some time with them. I still miss my Dad and he's been gone almost 8 years now, my Mom for over 18. I do wish that after college, I had made more time for them. I was lucky enough to have great people raise me. I don't use facebook that much but I have been spending more time there lately. There is so much to do on the internet that sometimes I lose track of time. But I am trying to improve on it. At least now that the weather is warming up, I'll take my laptop outside and enjoy the sunshine and fresh air! Thanks for sharing! Take good care!

I think I may have an internet addiction lol. I am almost never without my netbook and any chance I get I am on the internet, whether it's playing on-line games or forums e-mails etc. I never seen to do much else in my free time, even when watching T.V I have the computer open and using the internet. I lose track of the time constantly, I say to myself that I am only going to play a game or something for an hour or two but it ends up being the whole day. I don't have much to do at the moment and there is not much to do at my house so it is all I can really do, but it;s my hobby and once I go to university I will calm down with the internet usage I think. I don't think it's a really bad thing though as it keeps me occupied and stops be being bored out of my skull. =P Have a good day. =)

LOL,, I can see just how much you like the internet! It's almost endless what one can do online. I work, and play online so it does cause me to lose track of time which sometimes I regret. Like the time, I burned a roast chicken! It'll be interesting to see how the internet continues to evove and change our way of life. Be well!

I am stay at home all day at present, because I haven't found a new job yet. I feel a little addicted to the internet, If I logout for a while, I don't know what else to do. But if I am on the internet for a long time, I feel I should do something else, it is a strange feeling. I found I postpone some of my plan because of the internet, so I need to control the time I am on it.
