I am a translater in a research center. But recently, i confused by some sentences in the document. Please help me to understand it well. Here are the sentence i confused:
"For the assessment of uniformity in case of vegetatively propagated Guzmania, a population standard of 2% and an acceptance probability of at least 95% should be applied."
Especially the latter half of this sentence, thank you for your helping.

This sentence is extremely badly written, I would imagine it means the following.
For vegetatively propagated Guzmania, at least 95% of the population should conform to the standard of uniformity with a standard deviation of no more than 2%
But it is so badly written that it is impossible to be sure

This is a statistical statement. I believe that what it is saying is that, when propagating [the plant] Guzmania from cuttings (as opposed to from seed) and deciding on how many of the plants meet a particular standard of uniformity, only 2% of the whole population should be accepted as 'uniform' but that, of that 2%, at least 95% are likely to be acceptable.
I don't know if that makes it any clearer. It really needs a statistician to understand it, however, if you imagine 1000 plants being grown to sell at a market, the trader may want all of the plants to look the same and, of the 1000 plants actually grown, only 20 of them can be expected to be acceptably similar. Of those 20, however, at least 95% should be considered to meet the standards.
