What will you do if people around you always use your stuffs without your permission? What will you do if people around you always trespass your privacy stuffs? What will you do if people around you use your stuff and didn't take a good care of it and cause damages? What will you do if they don't want to admit the damages they caused?

hie neatteo, in the first instance, there have to be a degree of respect and privacy. i used to live in a dormitory while in tne university. perhaps i was fortunate as none of my dormitory mates used belongings of others. these may be cosmetics such as lipsticks, powder, nail polish. others like foodstuff, mugs and personal items such as toothpaste, soap etc are also not taken. of course, when my parents came visiting with food, fruits and cookies, i offered to my dormitory mates. only then, they took the offer and ate. if they really run out of stuff like biscuits, they would request and later replaced back. in your case, you have to make your stand to them and let them know that you are not pleased with what they did. its better to tell them right at the beginning , ie nip it in the bud, and reach an amicable understanding than to suffer silently. if left too long, it becomes a habit and taken for granted. i hope neatteo, your friends have understanding and wisdom to know this and respect your stuff and privacy.

Hello gracefuldove. It's great to have dorm mates like yours. I don't mind if people want to use mine. Just tell me and I am okay with that. And about the privacy stuff like laptop or diaries, of course I will just turn mad.

I've experienced this a lot at the office. I have my most used office supplies out on my station (stapler, staple remover, scotch tape dispenser and sometimes scissors). For the longest time i just leave them there because everyday I come in to work I use them. And because they're out in the open, they also have my name plastered on every single item and especially on my pencil sharpener, you know the mechanical one? One day, i noticed that my stapler gone missing. I went through our entire production floor looking for it. In a few days time, my scissors gone missing, my scotch tape was emptied and the final straw was I found my pencil sharpener in another part of production floor. It pissed me off greatly because I don't know who keeps taking my stuff and not putting them back. I really don't mind if someone borrows my stuff as long as they return it. But No. So I put this REALLY BIG sign with the following message: "If you take something from this station, please make sure you put it back. I don't mind if you borrow my stuff. I DO mind if I don't find it where it should be. Most eapecially, i DO mind if i find it SOMEWHERE ELSE." And as an added precaution, I made sure to lock my things in my pedestal no matter how cramped it already was just to ensure that I don't lose anything AGAIN!

I used to it before. But in early time, I just let it be. Then if it happens again, I will ask them. If the same things happen, I will hide all my things. I don't mind if people wants to use mine. But please take a good care of it and please put it back.
