Keeping money in paypal-do you let it accumulate in your account for long?

Do you let your money accumulate in your paypal account, keeping it for long? Or , do you withdraw it soon after you receive payment?WHat makes you accumulate the money in the paypal account itself for such a long time [if you do it]? Does the fluctuation of the dollar versus rupee or other currency have anything to do with your decision? Please share.

Hi kala, I normally wait for sometime till my money accumalates to a certain amount, so that I dont get to pay when I get the money transferred to my bank account.I wait till my earning reaches at least 175 dollars or more before I transfer it to my bank account...The rate that is given by paypal was always low, I am not sure if the recent reserve bank regulation has made any positive change, because I have not transfered money to my bank account after that...

well, since I'm "unverified" it costs me $1.50 to get a check cut so sure, I leave it in there until I have enough to make it worth my while.

you have to be verified, and I failed to do that the time I tried and gave up - me and banks don't get along...

I don't want to keep my money in my Paypal account for a long time. When it reaches about USD150, then I will withdraw it to my bank account because who knows what will happy tomorrow. At least it seems to be safer to keep the money in my own bank account. I love China

I really don't like to grow my money in Paypal or wait for long time to withdraw it in my bank account in my country because I'm afraid of internet hackers. I don't like to think that they will be able to get my hard earned money and spend it on for their personal use and that would really hurt. So the best thing to do is to withdraw it when it's already reach $100 just to be safe because hackers are fast and they wont wait for you. Internet money can never be safe so let us be careful about it.

I let it sit in there for a while until I want something. What I am hoping to do is get enough money saved up so I can buy my gardening supplies. I want to buy seeds. I want tp plant peas and green beans. I also want to but Strawberry plants. I want to buy two rose bushes and plant those as well. I rarely spend the money in my paypal my account. This year after I buy my gardening supplies I will save up again for Christmas. I want to be prepared.

Up until last year I used to earn a lot of Paypal funds, and would transfer out when I had a good amount in there. Never wanted to get my account frozen or hacked, so this was a good way to prevent it. Now I'm lucky to earn a few dollars here and there, and I've been using what I've made on a game I play, but I'm learning to control myself with that. I've pulled money from my bank account to do that and I can't afford it. When I have at least $10 in my account, it will be transferred to the bank account, but not until then.

In our country, if we transfer just 10 dollars to our bank account it gets too expensive. So, we are forced to accumulate a bit.THanks for the response.

Hey kalav! I don't let money accumulate in my PayPal account! When I get my payment from mylot I put it directly into my checking account! I need to put as much money as I can into my checking account to help with my bills! So whatever money that I can make here goes straight into that account! That is why I try to make payout each month! Even if it is only $10 that helps towards a payment of one of my bills!

I keep the money in paypal accumulated till I need that money. Paypal is really safe to keep the money accumulated. Exchange rate of dollar versus rupee can change anytime it does not have anything to do with your decision.

i let my money sit in my account and i only remove it if i really need it. I used to sell items on ebay, which is how i got the majority of the money in my paypal account. I didn't really have the need for the money, so i let it sit there for months, maybe even a year, kind of like a saving account. If there is a time when i need some money i withdraw some. I had a few hundred in my account so i take out about a hundred at a time, that way if i do some shopping on ebay i already have some money in my account rather than they taking it out of my debit card.

kalav56, In the first place, Paypal is NOT a bank. So, it does not have any business or viable options for end users to accumulate monies with them. Unlike banks, when you have an account with them, your savings are being assured and would earn some interests. On the other hand, Paypal is just merely an international online payment facilitator and as such does not have any legal obligations to any country's national bank, monetary authorities or government. Hence, it will always be an arbitrary subject when government laws or policies changes in the financial aspects. Once, these arbitrations begin or become unresolved, they will just pull out without any obligations to account holders like you and me. So, I would not advocate keeping substantial or even better still, any money in their facility.

Hi Kala, I have kept my money in paypal only. The reason is they are charging fees for every transfer so I thought to accumulate the money and then withdraw it together. Now I am thinking to withdraw the money seriously as there were some ups and downs with paypal. Last time I thought about a withdrawal that time there was decline in currency rate so I gave up. Then the problems came in Paypal for Indians. Now let me think about it.

I have two reasons for keeping a bit of money abroad. One is if I have to buy something from online marketers, like eBay, then it becomes difficult to buy them without dollars, especially when the seller is located in another country. Second one is, of course, as you pointed out. Nevertheless, there is not much in my account. :)

Hi kala, and life, no I have not bought anything on ebay so far. But I do have a product that I am looking for. It is a mopping gadget. :) It works on batteries I am told - rechargeable. :) So you just charge it, and it mops the room! You dont have to hold it and take it around like the mopping stick. :) Costs something like 300 + dollars. :) I think though these are certainly tall claims, it is still worth it! :) It has its own sensors that prevent it from dashing anything. Since we do have problems with maids taking so many offs, that is one I would consider buying. :) I dont have any issues with doing dishes. The only thing that causes problem is the mopping. :( Partly because when I do it myself, I tend to be overfastidious. :)

I usually wante to keep money in paypal account until it reaches about 200 dollars so that I can withdraw it to bank without fees or with low fees. I don't want extra fees to affect my total earnings. But usually I use the paypal money for other things before I even managed to withdraw them out to bank. Therefore, I haven't even withdraw money to bank once even though I have earned more than 200 dollars in total for the past one year.

Given that I haven't used paypal for very long, I haven't collected enough to get a payment from them. I feel that i would let it grow until the holidays or an emergency, treat it like a savings account.
