Well there are several reasons behind it.Sometime its just happen in naturally.Sometime its men ego behind all these things.Men find it emotionally insecure to sit at home and let wife earn living.Women take it easily but not many men can digest it. Sometime it natural as women are more family and kids oriented.

Well, I am one of those women that has given up my career. The reason that I've done this is because I wanted to really have the experience to know my children while they are young. I would be happy to be a working woman, but I love my children and to be able to ensure that they are really ready to go out into the world when it is time for them to start school. I believe that my being at home with my oldest before she started school is a large part of the reason that she is so far ahead of her peers in school.

Well, according to me, women has to face more challenges health wise, say their pregnancy, feeding kids and much. So women have more to work at home than outside. They are the backbone of a family. Well, giving up careers i feel these are the basic reasons, but again it depends on the woman, she can take care of the career and home, as she has higher potential capability.
