It happens in threes..........

Do you believe in that, that some things happens in threes? It is one of the 'superstitions' that I do happen to believe in, and I'm not a superstitious person. As some of you who read one of my latest discussions knows, my son-in-law's father passed away yesterday. Today, one of my daughter's friends' mother passed away, they are not sure from what yet. When my daughter told me, we both thought the same thing "that's two", so who/what will come as the third? Do you believe in things happening in threes? If so, are you normally a superstitious person?

Hey palonghorn~ OMG~ Yes, unfortunately that is one of the few superstitions that I do believe in~ that deaths do come in "threes", and for some strange reason they usually do. I hope that in this case maybe it won't happen. I don't know why it seems that way, but it just always seems to be that after one, the two there always seems to be the third~ I will pray that this time it will stop at two~

Thanks, I hope it stops at two this time too. But, it's hard for me to think that there won't be a third. They always seem to happen that way. I just hope not this time.

Well, so far so good Opal, nothing else has happened. Well with the exception of me telling a close friend about these deaths, he lives in another city 4 hours from me. The next day my phone got shut off, forgot to pay the bill LOL. When he couldn't get hold of me, he called a friend of ours that lives in the same town I do, had him come by to check on me, make sure I was okay. lol I told him, on our friends phone that I was fine, just a stupid oversight on my part lol

I dont believe it but my mother does, so much that if she has had 2 bad things happen she will create a third just to end the cycle, usually by putting clothes with money in the pockets in the wash, so she can say thats the third one! Or she will "accidently" break something, anything to get the third one done lol! But then she doesnt believe good things happen in threes, just that bad stuff does.

Hi Aunties I wish I would have saw your post before I posted. It's funny that your mother does that but whatever works for her is best for her. I know some people that are also superstitious my dad was one of them. He didn't go way overboard but he did have some things that he did believe. The threes was way on top of his list.

I guess that's one way to end the cycle of threes. But my luck I'd cut myself by breaking something lol and besides then I'd have to replace it. My ex was superstituous about a lot of things, black cats included lol

I'm superstitious by default; I think it's my fear of the unknown, or the fear of what could POSSIBLY happen. But I do often think of the 3s thing when someone passes away -- it seems to just be one of those uncanny, unexplainable things.

I am by no means superstitious, however I do believe in the rule of things happening in threes. And I'm not even really sure why I believe in it, it's just never been proven wrong to me. And it applies to so much in my life... I always sneeze three times.

I have to agree, that it happens that way. It was always something that my mom said, and it really seems true. I am not too superstitious, but that one always seems that way.

things happening in threes, im not quite familiar what that superstition but i believe in the 7's superstition. 7 continent, 7 colors of the rainbow, 7 holes in the face [2 eyes, 2 ears, 2 nose hole, 1 mouth.] and some other similar terms used in shows and animes not quite sure if this is a superstition but it sure looks like it.
