I totally agree, especially on the "watching English movies and TV series" part. I'm not a native English speaker and we usually don't speak English at home, but when you engage my children in an English conversation, you'll be amaze how good they are in speaking this language, of course they also study reading, writing and speaking English at school, but the way they actually talk sounded like someone from their favorite cartoon shows, disney channel or nickelodeon shows, you can even detect the american accent. ^^

I always practice English speaking in the mirror.. hope it helps

Continue on posting messages and starting discussions here in MyLot. Watch English movies and surf the net for English streaming media like YouTube. Read English literature and enjoy doing so. As every great coaches would say, "Practice, practice, practice." Don't mind the accent just learn how to express yourself in English would be enough to know and understand the language.

Try to read books, news and I recommend you to read novels especially because it contains words that has a deeper meaning. Try to communicate with other people in English language. Try to enroll in English learning centers.

Honestly, I feel like by your being here, you are taking a definite step in the right direction. One of the ways that I've found in my experience of trying to improve my knowledge of a language that isn't my native tongue is to immerse myself in it as much as possible. Then, in addition to typing in English and learning the weird characteristics of the language, you can also try to listen to as much English conversation as possible.

Hi, You first start by acquiring a good vocabulary. There are 1000 basic english words that you should learn in order to have an intelligent conversation with somebody. Once you are done with that, you pay some serious attention to your grammatical skills. If you think there is a scope for improvement you should immediately go for it. I will also suggest you see lots of English movies. Now, if you like the US pronunciation, go for the Hollywood movies and keep away from British movies for a few days. But if you like the British pronunciation, just avoid all others. You need to be focused for at least a few days and until you are quite satisfied with your fluency level. You will be needing a few friends, motivated as you are. Have conversation with them, regularly. Go through chatrooms of English speaking countries, be bold and talk to them. The normal process to speak in any foreign language starts by first thinking about something in your mother tongue and then converting it into the target language. What you have to do is to completely remove this translator part, so that thoughts are generated in the target language automatically and correctly. Thanks God bless you

Watching TV series or movies in english I think is the best for speaking any language fluently. You can also watch movies in english with english subtitles, so this way you don't miss a word of it. Also, read a lot of books. And look up in the dictionary for every new word you find. That sure helped me. If you have a pen friend who is a native speaker that'll give you a lot of tips on daily use of words, don't be afraid to ask for particular words, even if you get the gist of the phrase. Good luck and keep on practising!

Hi liqqlovely, The only way to be fluent in English speaking is but speak to others using that language frequently. Just like learning any other language, you need a lot of practice to be familiar with the words, sentences and the correct pronunciation of the words.

Hello liqqlovely, I want to improve my English too, especially in writing matter. In my point of view writing a good English with a good grammar is far more difficult than speak in English. If we talk about speak in English, maybe you can start from a simple daily conversation in your daily life. If any chance you can join the English club in your state and it's better if the instructor is a native, there are a lot of advantage if you can practice English directly with a native. Hope you gain great success with your English.
