Believe It!

Do you think that if you tell yourself something (or someone else tells you), hear something, or read something enough times that you'll eventually believe it? Do you think you can psych yourself out, so to speak, into believing something just because you want to? Of course, there are motivational speakers who advise to keep telling yourself, "You can do it!" and then you will be able to do it. However, that's more along the lines of having a positive attitude with determination, in my opinion. What do you think? Do you think you can believe anything you want to believe, whether or not it's true?

I absolutely do believe it. And it definitely works both ways. It seems easier to believe the bad things though. Like if people keep on saying negative things like "you can't do it", "You aren't good enough", and that kind of thing, I think people believe it if they hear it enough. Then they just quit. As for the motivational speakers, I listen to a lot of that. In most cases, it isn't enough to just say "you can do it." You have to have a clear, concise goal and a plan to do it. The repeating it everyday keeps you motivated to keep on going for it. I don't believe if I sit on my butt all day and keep repeating, "I'm going to be a millionaire", that it's going to happen. But it is believing that it can happen that will get you motivated to make it happen. And if you don't believe it, you won't do it. Period.

Wow, great response! I couldn't agree with you more. I never thought of the effects of telling ourselves (or hearing) negative things, but I definitely agree that those things stick a little more than positive things. I don't know how or why that is, but it's the truth! I also agree with your "action plan." It's one thing to tell yourself you can do something, but you won't have a doubt that you can do it if you have a plan to execute whatever it is you told yourself you can do! There must be action behind those things we're telling ourselves. As far as negative things go, I think it's easier to believe them because we are prone to think bad of ourselves perhaps? Thanks again for your excellent response!

this is the principal law stated in Rhonda Byrnes book,The Secret.the book says that in order to get something, you must believe and act that is already yours.that thinking will manifest in real life.also, thinking about positive thoughts will really bring what you want in real life.the book says that your thoughts will manifests in real life and the Universe will work towards giving you what you want.

Some people can believe anything, and make it up as they go along. I suppose that positive statements made, and heard, long enough can help you achieve things. I read a long time ago that we should not say negative things about ourselves because our subconscious believes it, so why would it not be the same, and our subconscious believe the positive things that we voice on a regular basis.

I've heard that also, that it's not good to speak negative of ourselves. Overall, I think it's very degrading to put oneself down because it doesn't speak well of their inner feelings. I also don't think it's good to brag about ourselves on the other end of the spectrum, but it's good to have a balance. The best thing to do is to always have a positive attitude!

Yes i actually believe that. I watched that many times in television and heard it through talks. Believing in something and having faith to that will make you believe that even that is not true. Human can convince himself to what ever he/she wants to believe. For example in some religions killing is not a sin for them if done for their GOD and they actually believe that. But we know that deep in our hearts hurting someone is bad even no one teach you that. And there's a saying that anything that the mind can conceive the body can achieve.

You have a very interesting perspective, and I appreciate your response. Yes, I think in a lot of cases, it's true that you can convince yourself something is true even if it isn't just because you've thought about it so long and convincingly.
