Apple just announced their iPhone 4.0 firmware a couple of hours ago. One of the biggest addition is multi-tasking. Yeap, Apple is finally adding multi-tasking to iPhone/iPod touch/iPad. But its not the usual multi-tasking you see on most smartphones. Instead, only 7 types of services are allowed to be multi-tasked.

The sweet thing is, one can do multi-tasking with the new OS. The sad thing? 3G and iTouch 2nd generation are not in on it!

There are rumors that the new iPhone hardware would really optimize the new software and I am hearing about the iChat thing which have some tidbits of information in the OS 4 beta. They believe that the next generation iPhone would (at last) have a front facing camera. That is quite sad for the older generation but at least they have upgraded the software of the phone compared to other phones that the manufacturer would only have a software upgrade for just a few months and would turn away with the old device immediately because of their new hardware or new phone.
