Oh dear, I've been telling students for years to avoid computer subjects. You'll be obsolete before your course is complete. Now, you are graduate - just play on that! Many firms want a graduate, i.e. any graduate, to do something else. Keep an open mind and see what else you could do, outside the computing field.

it doesn't mean that if someone has gone to computer subjects you'll be obsolete. I believe that computer science is the best subject that i have taken but i need more experience inorder to land a good job. the keyword here is experience... please don't discourage your students to take another subject beside computer because we people have different prospect in life and work it depends on the student if it is the right path to take.

Well, you are the one without a job so you know best! If you have any electrical or mechanical engineers among your ex class mates, I bet they are working. Things like electricity hasn't changed much in years, neither have cars, trains, aircraft stopped needing maintenance and repairs. Now what will a computer do next year? The year after? What I am using today will be thrown away within two years (or hopefully recycled). Then, most people work until they are 60 years old or more. Will there be any computers when you reach 60? Face facts - you are obsolete already.

Hello there! Im a computer science graduate myself and find it so hard to look for a job when i finished my school as well, I didn't give up looking for one so i landed in a good job after wards. Times are really tougher nowadays especially there's a lot of newly grads out there seeking for a descent job. I would suggest that you prepare many resumes and don't stop applying to different company that seeks your desired position. Never ever give up or lose hope, one day you will have one that's for sure.

Hi Nehmer, Just get out there and get your name out all over the place. You may well land a job that isn't exactly what you are looking for but at least you won't be just sitting around. Also if you are lucky and land a job in the field that you went to school for I'm sure the company will be training you. Don't worry. I'm sure you will do fine. Oops...just noticed how old this discussion is. I hope you already found that job you wanted! Good luck, Nehmer!

The main thing here is just pass your resume to many companies,to all who offer jobs which is connected to your field. Don't give up and check everyday the new job offers. I know what you feel before I don't have a job too. But You know what? I just search and search in the net and I found one and got hired. So don't give up.

I've been without one also. My issue is I'm older and it's much harder for me than for those just 5 or 10 yrs younger than myself. I've been submitting applications all over and no one will hire me for jobs I'm qualified for or ones I've a bit over qualified for... HELL!!! The man who claims to love me won't even be with me. smh. I'm tired of all this and am living with family and I know they are ready for me to leave.
