Lately, My son who will be 16 in Nov. asked me about sperm banks. I was reading about one on the ladies here who mentioned her husband and money problems. That he was going to make a quick $200 for it. Well, my teenage son said, "Can I do that?" I told him no. And, then he said, "Well, what about the older kids that hang out in town? They are 18 and up. Can they do that?" I told him I guess they could since they are adults. So, what I would like to know is if a couple goes to a sperm bank how do they know they are getting good healthy sperm or sperm from some 19 yr. old drop out on drugs? And, you can't tell me sperm banks don't lie. I know for a fact they do! So, would you want to go to one knowing that you really don't know where the sperm came from? Or, would it be easier just for you and your husband to pick a friend you trust and play a little swap game? Just until you get pregnant? At least you know who the doner is and it is up to you to tell them the truth. What do you think? *Peace and Love get's you through everything in Life*

I do not know much about the processes of sperm banks. I guess there should be a series rules for it. The sperm banks give money to the doners right now maybe is showing their respect to doners. Then the sperm banks institute will have a series of strict standard for these sperm.

This question is best answered by your husband. He might have a very definite answer for you. If he is open minded (as I am) he might suggest a suitable friend to be the father of your unborn child. Otherwise he should accompany you to your Doctor, and ask a lot of questions. Perhaps you and hubby can swap partners for a while. Unless you are of a religious bent this could solve your problem. I thank you for this Post, as I have found it very stimulating! Don't be put off by those closed minded individuals who pretend to be mortified by your question?

I am not the one wanting to get PG. I was just taking to my son about the subject of donating and I read an article about a woman and her husband going to a sperm bank. Thanks though!
