Obama's Election-Year Jobs Agenda Stalls in Congress The election-year jobs agenda promised by President Barack Obama and Democrats has stalled seven months before voters determine control of Congress. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/04/11/obamas-election-year-jobs-agenda-stalls-congress/ Now, in these days, where do you think people's priorities would lie? Jobs, environment or health care? Regardless of your views on health care. This is not meant to be a discussion on health care. For the purposes of this discussion, lets PRETEND that you like the health care reform. Lets also pretend that you agree with cap and trade. Now what order would you put these three issues. Mine would be 1 jobs 2 health 3 environment What order would you put them in?

Laglen, health care directly effect jobs. If you have to pay $2 - $4,000 a year per employee on health care than that will determine if you will hire. I do think that jobs are the most important thing, but like many have said on here: The government doesn't, and shouldn't create jobs. We all know that when the government creates a job it cost US way to much money. The government can try to save jobs, and use tax incentives to hire, but both of those are only temporary fixes to the problem. As soon as the money for both are gone, usually the so is the job. The environment is important to all of us, we can make as much money as we want and have a 3% unemployment rate, but if the planet is destroyed in the process then what are you going to do? Move to Mars?

None of the above are the responsibility of government, but the rules are the rules and I will play along. 1) Environment-if you want to give the government extra power then protection the environment would be the best. If Man-made climate change is as bad as they say then all the job creation and health care reform is not going to matter. 2) Jobs-what is the point of health care reform if you do not have a job. Also without more jobs to create more taxable revenue how will government pay for all their spending. 3)Health care-government is going to mess it up might as well make it the last thing on the list.

Gew, as someone that deals with business owner everyday I can tell you that health care does effect jobs. I was talking to one of my trucking companies a few weeks ago, and he told me that they are averaging $3,500 a year per driver on health care. They are doing really well, but are brokering some jobs because they don't want to hire more guys because of all of the cost associated with that hire. He told me that health care is now the number 2 cost to hiring, and will be the number 1 next year.

I've argued all along that I disagree with Obama on his priorities, his policies and his programs, in that order. So now I get to fix his priorities. I would have put jobs and the economy first. A whole bunch of other things second, third, fourth... But since we only get to pick from your three, Laglen...health and then the environment. (Good morning!)
