Where do all our discussions end up?

I'm still fairly new here, and exploring you might say. I have noticed that the search engine has a habit of turning up stuff which is just a little(?) old. Four years seems quite common. Perhaps I'm searching for the wrong items? Anyway, It got me thinking, how long will these discussions last. If a young person joins today, will they be able to trace their developing maturity in later years? And have you posted anything in the past that you wouldn't like to be read today? Or, perhaps your new husband / wife might read something embarrassing? It seems strange that an edit button isn't available (that was another recent discussion) but would you like to see a delete button? Or should there be a time limit on content? What do you think, or do you really care?

I have seen some old Discussions on here a well, petersum. I wonder what sort of system myLot uses for the storing and retrieving of old Discussions. How is it decided what Discussions are made available? I am curious about it.

I assume that every discussion that has not been deleted for guideline violations is still available. What's more, you can comment on all those millions of topics! Huge earning potential stored away for our use.

You are correct about the earning potential in those old discussions. I enjoy finding old discussions and responding to them. However, I think that myLot could do a better job at making those discussions available. I remember many older discussions from when I was on here before, yet when I search for them, they do not appear.

They all appear for me I use the myLot search (I have it set as my default search engine) and I made a web search for myLot+username and they all appeared, pages and pages of them

I guess if you are searching for something and it hasn't been talked about for four years those are going to come up because it does seem they delete nothing old. Unless it gets deleted for violations its here forever. I always keep in mind to not give away any information that is too personal, just in case. Yeah, I do think there should be a delete button and I would also like to see a limit on discussion numbers started because there are a few people who start way too many mundane and inane posts. I also think it should be separated by countries because there are many things that people do in other countries in the way of animals and such that offend me that they think there is nothing wrong with. I would also like to see a block feature so that if you start a discussion you can block certain people. It would also help those who do not like some, they could just block them rather than continually tell them off.

Yes, mundane and inane posts - that sums up mylot quite well! Freedom of speech - we have to put up with a lot of disagreeable things under that banner. Can't have everything!

I don't mind responding to older discussions, especially if I know that the original poster of the discussion is still active and comments back to responses. I have seen some older discussions "reborn" and become active and get quite a few more responses just because one person took the time to respond to it. Of course, it helps if the poster of the discussion comments back, because it makes it more visible and helps it to gain more attention, but that is not necessary.
