Over the years Microsoft has made many attempts to replace its older edition Xp with it new OS like vista and window 7. Vista was a complete failure whereas window 7 got a bit popular in some parts of world. But what is that unique thing in xp that people are not getting in vista or window 7. Can you elaborate this. Are you too using xp rather than vista or window 7.

Although I had tried out Vista a few times, but I still prefer windows XP very much. I had a hard time to familiarize with the Vista user interface. The problem is they are emphasizing more on graphically fancy stuff than the practical use. Therefore, I find that we should continue using the XP. It's good enough and therefore we do not really need to switch to Vista unless there is some improvement done in the future version.

Hi Ketping it's so nice to see you here . I am sorry to hear that you had been having a bad experience using Windows Vista as well. Actually you could try to change the setting so that performance is optimized instead of graphics is being optimized. But still it's much better for you to switch to Windows XP. Therefore I am glad that you have actually done that. Hope you can continue to enjoy the efficiency of Windows XP while you are doing the daily computer-related job. Happy posting and have a nice day!

Thanks so much, Cheong YC!! Ya, you are right in suggesting that I change the setting in order to optimized the computer's performance. However, switching to Xp seems to be the better option. You are indeed so helpful and it is a pleasure receiving your response. Hope you have a wonderful day!!

I certainly agreed with you, cheongyc because Vista has proven to be less efficient compared to XP.It was so slow that I couldn't even read my inbox messages and what more when I needed to sent messages just two weeks ago. I was miserable as I couldn't use my computer until I sent it to the shop to have it changed to XP. Now I am enjoying my self as XP is so much better than Vista just as you have commented.

Not at all, after 10 years of using windows xp, I finally change my operating system. I upgraded my system into windows 7 and I find it great, I'm fully satisfied about the performance, features, and looks of a windows 7 operating system. It can do what windows xp can in nice and better way.

I like xp because it doesn't ask you for every change you make. No comment about vista... I'll try windows 7 when i get a new pc but i like my xp a lot and am keeping it stable for a long time now so i can't complain.

I am too comfortable to Windows XP that I cannot switch with any other OS especially vista. When I hear of Windows 7, I thought that it really is a OS but unfortunately, I can't be comfortable with it. It is completely new for an XP user who didn't experience Vista that is why I am still sticking to Windows XP. I am afraid that when something is wrong with my PC or laptop, I couldn't find a fix to it resulting to someone fixing it which will cost money

You have put a perfect answer hear. I too feel easy in XP. I have used all the three OS I have discussed. But XP is a real pleasure to work. However, you can have some faith on windows 7. But Xp is best for me.

I use windows XP because most games are supported but i think microsoft is trying to force gamers to upgrade to Windows 7 with new games coming out like Just Cause 2. XP might be old but its still the best for me. I although am planning to get a new computer, an ASUS G73JH-X1, which comes pre-intalled with Windows 7 64-bit. Might try to get with the times. Going from XP to 7!! Without ever owning a Vista! FTW!

Personally, I prefer to use Windows XP. I have 3 other computers, 2 deskopts and a laptop. One has Windows XP and the other 2 have Vista x86 Ultimate installed. Well, for me, I think Windows XP has a very high productivity level due to Microsoft Office 2003 and below. To run MS Office 2007 and above, you need to upgrade your RAM. By sticking to XP and using older MS Office 2003, I get more work done fast. Most of the "new" features and that annoying ribbon bar included in the new Microsoft Office is useless and it uses a lot of precious virtual memory. Windows XP also has lower recommended requirements for PC Games, this includes new and upcoming PC Games. Games like Bioshock and Fallout 3 require 2GB RAM on Vista, while on XP, only 1GB of RAM is required. Most PC's CAN downgrade to Windows XP from Vista, but I am not really sure about Windows 7. Another thing is that Windows XP has a lot driver support for older hardware. Some people can't afford new hardware (I don't blame them, it's a recession!) and so they have to use their old hardware with their old computer that most likely has Windows XP. So, to sum it all up, Windows XP takes up less memory than Vista and 7, requires less resources to run multiple programs and has the highest compatibility rate of running Windows 98 and Windows 95 games. Trust me, I prefer Dark Earth over Crysis any day. That should answer your question, buddy.

3 years ago I bought a Dell computer. It came with Vista loaded on it. The first thing that I found is that I was denied access to "My Documents" and other folders on my own computer. To make things worse, I had to talk with no less than three Dell techs. to find one that could fix the problem. He fixed it remotely and did not send me instruction on how to fix it should it happen again. I sent the computer back to Dell and had them send me one with XP loaded on it. I have not tried "7" and do not intend to. XP will most likely be the last Microsoft operating system I use. My next move will be to Linux. I have no faith that Microsoft will ever develop a user friendly operating system.

I have 3 computers in my place, 2 desktops, one is about 9 years old, the other around 5, and a laptop that I got on around this last New Years. I've always been a computer guy, my first OS being Windows 3.1 and DOS. What I've found, is that when a new operating system comes out, it's a lot easier and more manageable to keep the older OS on the older computers. I really like windows 7, it works more towards how people use computers nowadays, it's made it simpler for people to have the massive number of files on their computer, and still be able to get through them easily, it's very organized and fast... on newer computers. Put it on an older computer, and you don't get those benefits, and one of the biggest things that help it be faster is that it's on very powerful computers. Plus, newer OS's look more towards the future of hardware, so some of your older hardware might not work on the new computer. It's a great OS, but don't be running out to get it for an old computer.

Hi, I use windows xp as I have gained kinda expertise in customizing it over the years. I think the basic working principle of all operating system is actually the same, except for Linux and Unix based systems, that differs slightly in a few things. The most important thing about windows xp is that it is so simple and customizable, yet it is graphically enhanced, at least you can make it look good by installing stuffs like Crystal Xp etc. But I always keep my operating system optimized for high performance and use minimum graphics enhancements. Thanks God bless you

Using xp is very easy ,if you are starter you will find xp very easy but if you start with win7 you will find win7 also easy to use.It depends on the user to which operating system you feel nice or easy to use..windows vista was not as good as win7 as it is very easy to use and execute....

Up until now I am still using windows xp :) I just don't wanna change it with other OS. I think Windows XP is a friendly and easy to use OS. Well I just based it from what I have heard from my friends who have try to use other OS. I am not that techy to compare the other OS to windows XP but as far as using the windows XP I'm satisfied with it :)

When i bought my laptop it was vista installed. I don't really like vista because it is the unfinished product of Windows 7. That is why i immediately changed it to windows 7. I have no problem with the 7 so far. I like the windows Xp but it has become kind of boring. But it is a reliable OS.

Yes, I am still using Windows XP. Even Vista and Windows 7 are available. As I am satisfied with Windows XP. If the operating system still works good in my computer, I don't want to change another one. Because it is troublesome to install many software again. I love China

We are still using XP and we don't want to change, at least not at this point yet. We tried to shift in Vista before but that was awfully new and had a lot of bug. I have students who are using W7 and so far they said that it is reliable but I couldn't make a comment on that yet. So far what is reliable for me is XP and I'm happy with it.

I purchased my first windows 7 in February and though i agree its faster, looks better, and is easy to use, I have to say its very inconvenient! We bought a brand new printer prior to buying the computer and unfortunatly it was not compatible with the windows 7. I also had to have a tech come out to set up my internet for the service wouldnt connect with the new 7 system. Also a lot of games arent compatible with the system either. XP and vista are more versatile systems then 7..

Of course I use it. It is the best Microsoft operating system till Windows 7 i think because VISTA requires a very good PC, in fact. I am on XP right now and I am very satisfied with it right now, cuz my computer is a bit old and it works pretty good with XP. It won't be good enough with VISTA or 7, so Xp is the best solution at the moment. After a few months I am buying a notebook with Windows 7 and I am very excited about it - it will be much faster, convenient and innovative, so till the time comes I will use my XP :)
