What would you do if you were president of your country?

President - The Presidency
United States
April 27, 2010 2:23am CST
If I were president of the United States I would pull all the American troops out of the war zones, as a war on terror is a war of attrition and many people on both sides will die. The more we fight the more resistance there is. I would start investing more on education and reduce military spending and make it equal to that of other countries. The United States being the supreme military power of the known universe does need any more fire power. By diverting military spending it frees up money in education, technology advancements, and healthcare. I would also adopt Japan's recycling system and make every citizen recycle, as I do not want the United States to become a dump.

First I would have to get rid of the King! :-) And if I was prime minister today I would have been taking to Dmitrij Medvedev all day to find out how to split the grey zone in the Barents sea. Apart from that I would probably use a lot more money on research and innovation so that we have some thing to fall back on when the oil is gone.

That sounds like a good plan. You should write a letter to your government requesting such a proposition. Our oil indeed is unreplenishable and it will run out sooner or later, hopefully the latter. It is up to the people to stand up and have a say in the government!!

Or I could join the one party that actually suggested it :-) The other parties are very much for saving the money in the petroleum fond so that they can use it for their own pensions. I'm not old enough yet for it to be mine :-/ And I think it's enough money there to use it for something sensible, but apparantly we can't use them because that would lead to an over-heated economy.

That sounds like a good idea. Why can't you use government funds constructively? It will increase GDP but you're right that it might cause inflation if too much money is being circulated. Well good luck to you mate and your country. I hope you choose the right party to join.

If I were the president of the Philippines, I will declare martial law like what former President Ferdinand Marcos did, then mobilize the military and round up corrupt government officials, put them all in a C130 Plane, then drop them one by one in the Amazon river and let the monstrous Piranha's and Paraiba's feast on their flesh!

I am neither a pro-Marcos or anti-Marcos. I just used his style as an example. But who knows? What if Marcos really loved the Philippines and has a great plans for the Philippines. He was once quoted saying, "The Philippines will become great again", and maybe he just ran out of time to make it happen? Is it also possible he uncovered undetermined volume of Gold (stolen by the Japanese Army during World War II from other countries and were buried here in the Philippines), and Marcos deposited those wealth in offshore banks for future use of the Philippine government, but he unfortunately ran out of time to make his "good plans for the Philippines" happen?

That sounds like a good plan. I hope you forward the idea to the President Arroyo or attempt Coup d'état. Good luck with your presidency campaign. You do realize that part of the reason that the Philippines is so poor is because Ferdinand Marcos and his wife embezzled "billions of dollars of public funds to the United States, Switzerland, other countries, and fictitious corporations during his 20 years in power." The money has still not been found to this day, leaving the Philippines with billions of dollars missing.

Hello Eddy, I found this discussion very interesting. I think it's like if you will be given three wishes, what would they be?LOL. As for the discussion, I never want to get involved with politics. I think there are lots of issues there which can never be resolved. I also believe that being in politics will lower your life expectancy due to stress, problems and threats. Maybe I could just be a valuable citizen of the state. I could really handle that.LOL

If given the chance to be the President of the Philippines I will... 1. Strengthen military force. 2. Totally pulverize the Communist rebels. 3. Annihilate Muslim rebels in Mindanao; the food basket of the Philippines. 4. Now there will be peace, our economy will go steady. 5. Give budget to education. 6. No more rebels so the farmers can now be more productive. Train them. 7. Give more budget to research and development of agriculture. 8. I enjoy my myLot president experience. Thanks eddyspaghetti!

If I were the president of China, the first and the most important thing I would do is to make sure that everybody in China can have the freedom of speech. Nowdays, we do have little freedom of speech ; what we say in the Internet will be suspect seriously and some words are not allowed to appear. We can say little and know little, so if I were the president, I want to change this situation.

If I were the president of the country, I would do my best to give Philippines a better economy. I would provide jobs to do those who are in dire need, perhaps, livelihood programs, i would allot a bigger budget to education and health services, i would make Philippines a beautiful country- improve public works and highways, build tourist attractions to enhance the tourism industry and to get the attention of foreign investors, solve the crisis in Mindanao and a lot more...

First of all, if I was the President of this country, I would wonder what possessed met to run in the first place. Trust me, a thankless job where if everything goes wrong its your fault but if anything goes right, it is despite what you do. So yeah, not exactly the best career choice. I would be prepared for a long hard road ahead. Still, I would pull all of the troops from overseas, because quite frankly, we are not going to be terrorism any time soon. Until humanity is completely eradicated from the planet otherwise. Then it will be gone but so will everything else. So we will just be going around in circles and it will never end. Generations will die for an unwinnable battle. The other thing that I would do was stop trying to bail out every country that has a problem. I think we need to worry about the people in this country and not the people who are overseas. Part of the reason why we are submerged in this hole is that we lend too much money to people overseas and worry about helping them. It is well and good and all but when people that we're directly responsible for are struggling, then people elsewhere are going to have to take a backseat. By helping others, we are hurting the American people indirectly. It was not clear at first but it is surely clear today.

well, i guess that I will do nothing, because the president of my country actually can't do nothing- he doesn't play any role in the decisions that are taken by the Parliament!

This is a great subject , and i want to say that you could never fight back terror with terror , because the people in state of ware are suffering and therefore go trough terro , the people who suffer in those countryes like Iraq or Afganistan , are the civilians whom i cann assure you they have never wanted this to happen , never the people in Senat or Goverment they will be affected by this wars , on contraire its them whom get to gain alot of benefits and steal the resources of those countryies , more then that they will make poor civilians hate the Americans and its civilian people , so If i ware the president of any Country i wont send troops to help the USA goverment , simply for the reasons i mentioned before , for that i dont hate the America Troops , since they simply follow order , you cant fight terror back with violence or terrorizing the people , torture that Barack Obama agrees with ( I HATE Torture !!! ) . I am sorry for been as recalcitrant as i am , but this subject does make me suffer since we should have people everywhere making movements against the goverment and its decisions that are made only so they get richer and civilians having people in the suffrance , because they sons are dying for the USA goverment !!! Have a nice day dear Eddyspaghetti.
