Ice cream and my granddaughters

From the day I came here, I had set restrictions on the ice cream consumption of my granddaughters; they are 11 and 6 only. They are to be admitted in the best school convent here, but that’s a tough work. They have to face stiff competition in the pre-admission test. To encourage them, I had told, ‘If you are selected I will give you one kilogram of the best ice cream from the Amul ice cream parlor in front of this home, and an electronic harmonium to learn music and singing’. They really worked hard, stopped cartoon watching in tv and cleared the test. I am happy; they will read in the best school here, before coming to this city, they were reading in the best convent school in the place where my son was working. To keep my promise I gave them the ice cream, we all enjoyed eating that. I also gave them one LITTLE ANGEL, Electronic Key Board, XTS 4900 model. It has Karaoke facility too. They will join music class from tomorrow. I have asked their mom to give ice-cream once a week on Sundays, too much restriction is not good. What about your kids? How to encourage kids? Do they go music/dance classes? Do you allow them to eat ice cream daily, please share. Happy posting, cheers. Prof

I am not a grandma yet and I would do likewise if I have to, to inspire my grandchildren to get the best results in their exams. Who aren't happy to see our grandchildren reach the star and earning them a place in prestigious schools. It is something that I have not done to my own children. Luckily they excelled in their studies without me having to dangle the carrots. It is only right that I do it to my grandchildren since I am now free from parenting and to help my children to raise my grandchildren while I am still capable. Your grandchildren must be very happy that they got what was promised and this will definitely motivate them further to study harder knowing that they have 'santa Clause' grandfather.

It is always good to discipline the children. Giving them restrictions on food and activities that might not be beneficial to their health is goo. I also do restrict my little ones from eating ice cream all the time, also candies, chocolates and many junk foods around. Of course I do give them ice cream, candies and chocolates once in a while but I always explain to them that eating too much of them will not benefit them and they listen and they could absorb what I mean when I say "not healthy". Even in my absence, they do know how to discipline themselves. Even their own mother could not believe how effective my words have been to them.

awe, I used to have ice cream with my grandparents. My sisters and grandparents would go to this small ice cream place and we would all sit outside on picnic tables and talk. Then there was a park nearby so I remember we would go play on the park when we were younger.

Every week my son has a spelling test and this takes place on every Friday. So when he comes home off the bus he has his spelling tests with him. These spelling tests have twenty words in each one. I've promised him for every time he got every word correct I will give him two dollars and he can save up or spend it on whatever he wants. There's also consequences for words he gets wrong too. If he gets any words wrong then he has to give me ten cents for each word wrong. So far this whole year he's been coming home with all the tests right. There's nothing wrong with encouraging kids to do better no matter how you do it. Education is very important. Have a good night

Hi Professor! What a wonderful Grandfather you are! I think that your sweet Granddaughters are very lucky to had such a wonderful Grandfather as you are! I know that you want the best for them! I don't have any children or grandchildren, but if I did I would hope to be as good to them as you are to yours~

dear professor, i can imagine how proud you are of your grandchildren. they are just so smart that i know they will have very nice future ahead because they excel in academics. know what? i am also imagining everyone there eating the "promised" ice cream. it really is nice to feel the warmth of love in an ice cream the electronic keyboard is one more push for them to try on being on top always. it is a great idea. what a happy day. ann
