How will the World End?

There are lots of theories and beliefs regarding the end of the world, or the end of the human race as we know it. There are lots of movies made depicting "the end" times. There's the zombie-type movie where a virus will spread turning most of the population of earth to flesh-eating "undeads". Then there's the film about the earth submerged to water, or a desert-like earth, at sometimes. Also, there is the religious type "end" as stated in the Bible. There are others, recently, believes in the old civilization Mayan prophecy. Some believes in Nostradamus' prophecies. The scientific minds believes that the world will end when the sun explodes. What do you think? How will the world end? Will we be eaten by the sun? Will we be eaten by zombies? Biblical? Scientific? Occult?

I'm not talking about "ones" end. I'm talking about the end of human race and the end of the world. It is easy to say that one can end on their deaths but how can you say about the end of human race? Far more is the end of the world? How will it come to be?

The end of the world or the end of mankind? It is most likely the latter will come first. Then another species will take over and if they develop intelligence comparable to ours, they will also keep predicting ends of the world like we have been doing for millennia. My first guess will be through war and/or irresponsible science (including big business' constant poisoning of our habitat.) 2nd place, some big rock will hit the planet and if the planet is not too far off its orbit, we will kill each other for resources. I highly doubt earthquakes, volcanoes, and that sort of lot will be the end of the planet before the sun turns into a red giant or nova. They will kill billions, yes, but the planet will still go on until the sun goes. I like George Carlin's take on it. Recycling does not make any bit of difference, the planet will survive no matter how many plastic bags we pick up. We will disappear, but the earth can survive long after us.

What if we will be hit by a big rock hurtling in space? Isn't that a simultaneous end of the world and of mankind? It is a total obliteration.

Big rocks have been hitting the earth for a long time. They wiped out species, but here we are. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Impact_event http://www.unb.ca/passc/ImpactDatabase/

I think the last big rock that hit Earth was the time when the dinosaurs became extinct.

The only force that knows is our maker. It's silly to listen to theories about humans predicting prophecies. I think when our maker has made up his mind we will know at that moment. According to scientists, our whole solar system planets are to line up with the sun and this is suppose to reverse the direction in which the earth rotates and just from that it will cause disaster for our earth. Have a good night

The thing is, I believe in the Bible. I don't listen also to what man theorizes. What I believe is what will happen that is written in the Bible. It is really an event. It is unparalleled to everything that have happened to earth. It is a mind blowing happening. And no one can do anything to stop it. Unless God put a hand to it and stop it, which I believe He won't do.

There has been a lot of conversations taking place regarding the end of the world and so many different scenarios have been created. I have recently become interested in the 2012 predictions as foretold by the Mayans and on the date that they mention, 21st December 2012, according to science, there's supposed to be an alignment of the planets and this may or may not cause physical problems on our planet. There's obviously a lot of things taking place right now, Earthquakes, volcano eruptions, floods, the list goes on! In terms of science I think this is probably the way the world will end, I'm referring to the increasing size of the sun over billions of years! This is the scientific theory! The way things are going now though I'm not sure that our planet will be around for another billion years. I'm not quite sure about the zombie scenario although who knows what with all the viruses being created and experiments with biology taking place. As for me, I take one day at a time and I'm resigned to whatever will happen. Andrew

I don't believe on people who says the exact date of the end. No one will know of it. I believe in the Bible. No one can predict the exact date of the end. I guess we'll just have to see for ourselves if truly a great disaster will fall in the alignment of the planets in 2012. That's just 2 years from now.

i would like to end a day feeling that i have done something worthwhile not only for myself but for others as well. i would rather retire to bed at night feeling like i contributed a chunk to humanity. that i have done and continually do what i am created for by my Great Creator. as to HOW THE WORLD ENDS... well i leave that to the One who Created it. it His business, not mine

That's his business alright. But isn't that our business too?

the limit of my "business" i think is only on praying fervently that however he ends the world will not be that tragic and painful to me, my love ones and to many people. more than that, i think is no longer my business anymore. I LEAVE IT TO HIM. i FULLY and FAITHFULLY trust HIM. God Bless!

I think the world wouldn't end for another billions of years. But thats just my opinion. When it ends, I think it will end scienticly. I don't think it will in 2012 like the prediction. And when it does end I doubt there would be all those natural disasters at once. I'd have to say, when it does end, it would probably have something to do with the earth goes into the sun or if the sun exploded.

I seriously think the world will end with one naturally disaster after another. Something like the show Jericho which was on for a short period of time about two years ago. It will probably start in the West with California and continue through the East and around the world. I just hope and pray that my family and I are not still around when it happens. Scary visions going through my head right now.

Hi lelin1123! Isn't those natural disasters happening right now? They come more frequently and extremely more than the average over the past decades and centuries. I think it is happening right now, those natural disasters. Then it is safe to say that we are in the brink of extinction?

Maybe you should not witness The End of The World. However, in my opinion , the end of the world will be submerged ,earthquake and volcano. I do not believe the zombies , on the contrary, i regard that the nature power is awful.

We are lucky if we do not witness the end of the world, but what if the end is just right around the corner, just peeping and waiting for the right moment to strike? What if it strikes minutes later?

i honestly do not believe it,well i will just see when the time comes around.but seriously,do not worry about that!i made the same mistake .just do the stuff in life that you want ,& make sure that if a time like that ever does come around, you wont regret every thing you do not do.

Actually, I'm not worried. Its just an intelligent topic and I thought I should share it to the thinkers. One of my favorite authors once said that if we talk about things we think will come, it is bound to not come at all. Talking about stuffs is a kind of prevention to that happening. We are talking about caring for the environment, or the greenhouse effect and stuff like that. It is talked about nowadays. Awareness is at the all time high. Everybody's doing their share to not contribute to the greenhouse effect. Isn't that nice to talk about things after all?

I believe scientific and that the most disastourous is probablly a big meteor. So far Jupiter had been saving us from disaster with its bulbous gravitational pull. Thanks Jupiter. Shoemaker levy? I don't know if I spelled that right but anyways. Viral would be the WORST. Or nuclear fallout due to the mutinous factor, 3 eyed fish and one armed humans. Or.. Xenu may come back and lend domination to all the crazy scientologists.

We will surely be wiped out if a big meteor pass by earth, or hit earth point-blank. It would be a world wide disaster in itself.

Yap, the humans will most probably be an extincted specie long time before Earth time will end (either by meteorites or Sun explosion). If we manage not to kill ourselves or throw human kind 20 000 years back, I think that, until that big meteor or that Sun explosion will come, we will have the capabilities to save us, by leaving to other Earth-like planets or by doing something to protect us. The biggest threat to human kind are humans, for the planet I wouldn't be so worry, our good ol' Earth has seen and manage worse than us. We should be careful not to drop that H bomb on our foot.

The next question is, where is that Earth-like planet? Until we find that place, we will not be so sure of our future.

The world will end in Biblical way. I believe the bible it is explained well. I also think that the biblical doomsday will be the most terrifying end. Its like combined zombies, scientific and occult end.

Wow! A combination of all scenarios. That really is the doomsday. What does the Bible says about the end times, anyway? Can you tell us?
