McCain eyes 2008 president's run. Will he get a chance?

Actually, I think he has a pretty good chance. He has signed on the same team that Bush used during the last two elections and added them to his existing team. If he is willing to give up his principles (and he already did that when he endorsed Bush in the last elelction) he has a good shot. Plus, if you put McCain and Guiliani on the same ticket - you would have a combination that could beat the Democrats - no matter who they put up.

McCain will run, however, in the end it is going to come down to an electability issue, which McCain will lose. The primary in 08 is going to be full of names on both sides, but I will address only the Republican side here, and more specifically McCain. McCain will be up against names such as Frist, Guiliani, Santorum, and Allen. McCain is arguably the most experienced and knowledgeable, however, one of the least electable. Allen and Santorum have the look of youth and vigor, and Guiliani has his impeccable dealing with 9/11 and subsequent popularity. Frist is just not electable at all. McCain will poll well at first and may even win a couple of states but once again his bid ends in the Primary.

He probably will throw his hat in the ring, so to speak. It depends on the primaries, though, as to whether or not he emerges as the Republican candidate to run for the presidency.
