How about a way to get all the electricty we can use without drilling, using our food sources to make fuel, or polluting our planet and endangering the environment? And, with a cost that is no more than what we are currently paying for electricity 8 - 10 cents per kilowatt-hour.
Plus, we already have the technology needed. So, it is not something that needs to be developed.

 | speakeasy responded to a discussion called News analysis: AS IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE!. 1 day ago Actually, I thought it was a very good article. The only problem is that it points out that Obama is considered "likeable"; and people have been elected to public office before because of "likeability" regardless of how well qualified they are or not.
Sometimes that works out OK - Ronald Reagan; and, sometimes it doesn't - Adolf Hitler. |

Even though he "rises" from his grave after 3 days; he is only with us for another 40 days before he leaves forever to live in the "land of his father", never to return and set foot among us again. |

I agree with stripping their Federal Funding if they continue to flout the law. When Congree wanted to lower the speed limit to 55 - they threatened the states with loss of federal highway funding and it worked; the states caved.
And, it does not even take an "act of Congress" to implement this; it is within the scope of the President to issue an "Executive Order" to that effect. |
 | speakeasy commented in a discussion called Only the POLICE should have GUNS?. 6 days ago I definately agree that total bans do not work - look at Prohibition and alcohol; people who wanted to drink still had plenty of alcohol; DC's gun laws just resulted in ONLY the criminals having handguns and many gun related deaths; and Britain's ban on handguns works so well that they now have a rapidly escalating problem with stabbings (most victims are stabbed with kitchen knives) and what a... |
 | speakeasy commented in a discussion called STOP the MADNESS!. 4 days ago But, walking along with an electric mower would make you fitter than sitting in front of the computer all day. Also, you would only be giving up the difference in time between what it already takes you to get out, maintain, and mow with your riding mower and the time it takes to plug in and guide an electric mower.
By staying fit, you should live longer and be able to put in many more YEARS... |
 | speakeasy commented in a discussion called News analysis: AS IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE!. 1 day ago Well, that is not always possible. If they are reporting about a specific incident or statement, they do not normally go ask the other person for their opinion nor do they list the number of times a political opponent has done the same thing or made a statment on the same subject.
An example is the reporting on Obama's recent trip to Iraq. If they are reporting about Obama's trip, they SHOU... |
 | speakeasy commented in a discussion called Great idea OR disaster waiting to happen? in people. 18 hours ago
And, that is the problem. Scientists have come up with a lot of"good ideas" over the years; but, quite a few of them have proven to have serious consequences in the long run. This has the potential to affect not just the people who use it but the entire planet. By the time we found out what the long term effects are, it may be to late to reverse any damage. |
