What gadgets are lurking at the back of your cupboard?

Sometimes, you see some small gadget or other that you think is the very thing that would be really useful and make some part of your life easier. So, you buy it, maybe even try it and then it finds its way to the back of your cupboard/drawer & somehow, you manage to survive without it - just as you did before you even knew such a thing existed. I bought a 'thing' to hold my iron but my iron broke and I got one of those irons that are wireless and fit into a baseplate... so 'thing' is redundant. I bought a table which is suitable for someone to use in bed (you know - the feet slide underneath so the table goes across) but is also useful for reading/writing/crafts etc. Great! Haven't used it yet, its still folded down but its there 'just in case' and cost me less than £2 Whats at the back of your cupboards?? Was it a brilliant idea when you bought it?

Oh yes, you can do that with all sorts of things. I'm gradually making my way through boxes of stuff that I'd forgotten I had! That's how I found the keyring.

Luckily not too much at the moment as we recently moved and downsized considerably, hence I had a real good de clutter!!! But when I did there was the old bread maker, ice cream maker, pineapple peeler, etc At the time of purchase they were all going to 'change my life' unfortunatly none of them ever did!!

I bought a breadmaker for £5... I've probably had my money's worth but I'd sooner go back to the traditional method. A pineapple peeler.....I think I've probably only ever bought 3 whole pineapples in my life. Does it peel anything else??

I have an electric frypan that I haven't used in almost nine years. It came in handy when I first moved here and the kitchen needed a lot of work, so I didn't get a stove right away. But ever since, it's been sitting high up on a shelf in the back room, gathering dust...

I'd love an electric waffle maker... as long as it came with someone else to operate it.

Well, he's had this waffle maker for a while & I suspect he believes he has found that 'someone to operate it' (& he's probably right)

I did use to use my yoghurt maker at least once a fortnight but, I think its probably cheaper to just buy the big tubs of yoghurt now. My son's just bought an electric waffle maker home.....

There's my mouli grater. My dad gave it to me, but of late I pretty much always buy pre-grated cheese (bad, lazy Dawn). I never use my food processor either.

Well, it works for me but I haven't ever read the instructions so maybe it shouldn't but it doesn't know?

my husband and i are both coffee lovers or even addicts, we won't survive the day with an absence of steaming mug of morning caffeine. So we were both so excited when we got the coffe maker as wedding gift that means we saved up a little cuz we were planning on getting one. But as the years passed we kinda noticed we were perfeclty getting by instant coffee mixes. We get to choose the flavor we wanna have daily minus the mess of filtered blends. as im typing away now with this response im also staring at my pre-loved coffee maker sitting on the cupboard untouched for years...

You just need to convince someone else what a great device it is....

Our can openers always break. So far, we have two now that doesn't work but we still keep it. I don't know why. My brother doesn't throw them away. I don't know why they break after just a few days. We're always careful using it.

Oddly enough, we had a bit of a collection of broken can openers until a few weeks ago. Now I have my 'best' one and a cheap back-up.

I have lots of glasses and things that I bought and when I moved I haven't even used them anymore, and envelopes are in my cupboard too and lots of things it's funny to think we use our cupboards for a small storage place,

I am really trying to have a blitz on my cupboards and get rid of all those "vital" objects that I haven't used for years

I have a couple of empty jars that are plastic and glass. I thought I would find some use for them in the future. But I haven't used them so they are collecting dust in the back of the cupboard. Maybe I should put them out with the recycling next time.

Oh, yes, I always have plans for jars and bottles. Most of mine went for recycling about 6months ago and I've been a bit more selective about which ones I "save" since then.
