Chelsea won the English Premier League title after beating Wigan Athletic 8-0. A hat-trick from Didier Drogba (63, 68-penalty and 80), Nicolas Anelka (6 and 56), Frank Lampard (32 - penalty), Kalou (54) and Joe Cole (90) was more then enough for Chelsea to start their celebration. This also their biggest win in English Premier League this season. Previously, the highest score is seven goals (against Sunderland, Aston Villa and Stroke City). This is their first English Premier League title since Jose Mourinho left and the first for Carlo Anchelotti. Chelsea collect 86 points from 38 games with 27 wins, 5 draws and 6 loses. The nearest team from them is Manchester United with 85 points. After leading the goal scorer almost for the whole season, Wayne Rooney finally has to pass the top scorer award to Didier Drogba on the last day of the championship. Didier Drogba also has to leave the English Premier League games because he is involve in African Cup of Nations for a month in January. Before the games, Wayne Rooney and Didier Drogba was tied at 26 goals each. Didier Drogba manage to score a hat-trick today while Wayne Rooney did not score any. Didier Drogba manage to score 29 goals from 32 games. Chelsea also made a history by scoring more then 100 goals in a season. They manage to score 103 goals this season. The last team to score more then 100 goals in a season is Tottenham Hotspur in 1962/63 season when they manage to score 115 goals. This was help by a few high score games like against Wigan Athletic (8 goals), Sunderland (7 goals), Aston Villa (7 goals) and Stroke City (7 goals). Chelsea also manage to score five goals against Blackburn Rovers and Portsmouth. So, it is a treble joy for Chelsea and its players today. They can make it more sweeter if they can beat Portsmouth in the FA Cup final. FA Cup final would be played on May 15 at Wembley Stadium. If they can win it, this would be their first domestic double in Chelsea Football Club history. What do you think about Chelsea season? Would it be a more memorable season compare when Jose Mourinho incharge?

Chelsea's performance was as emphatic as it gets. There was no question of choking at the last hurdle, instead it was sealing it off with a fantastic performance. There was a sub-plot when Lampard stepped up to take the first penalty and Drogba was sulking a bit. But then he got his chance a bit later and got his hat trick which gives him the Golden Boot for this year. Though Manchester United won their match against Stoke convincingly, it was rendered useless by the result at Stamford Bridge. Cheers! Ram

Hi Ram, I think Frank Lampard forgot about the competition between Wayne Rooney and Didier Drogba for the English Premier League top scorer. Frank Lampard is the no one penalty taker for Chelsea and when he was faulted at the penalty box and the referee point at the middle of the penalty box, he got the ball and ready for penalty kick. Only after the penalty was taken then he realize that Didier Drogba was not happy with it. That's why when Chelsea got the second penalty, Frank Lampard give it to Didier Drogba to take it. By the way, Didier Drogba got the Golden Boot because Wayne Rooney fail to score any goal yesterday while he manage to score a hat-trick. Manchester United player does not know the result at the Stanford Bridge before the half time and they play it all out and hope Wigan can pull an upset. We can see Manchester United play an attacking game from the start. But at the second half, Alex Ferguson bring in the youngster as he knew that Chelsea would definitely win at the Stanford Bridge.

Yes, but I am pretty sure that Rooney would not have bothered about who scored a goal as long as Man U won. I guess that is the difference between Drogba and Rooney. BTW, Drogba later admitted that Lampard did the right thing and he was not in his right mind to feel offended. Cheers! Ram

I believe Didier Drogba dare to said it because he won the Golden Boot. If Wayne Rooney manage to score a goal and Drogba does not score any, I believe it would be a different story. Drogba would blame Lampard for it. Maybe not openly but at least he would say it or show it from his act. You are right. Wayne Rooney is not a selfish player. He is more willingly to pass to others who has a greater chances to score a goal the try it himself.

As a Manchester United fan I am absolutely gutted with the outcome today. I didn't have much belief that we could beat Chelsea to the title today and feared a Hammering for Wigan and that's exactly what Chelsea gave them. United played well at home but we knew that even if we had won 12-0 it would have counted for nothing if Chelsea had beaten Wigan. Well done to Chelsea and bring on next season.

Hi lakerfraster, It is hard for Manchester United to win the title from yesterday game because their fate is not in their own hand. They need a big favor from Wigan and hope Chelsea would make a mistake. Unfortunately, Chelsea is very motivated yesterday and manage to score the biggest win this season. Yeah ... try again next season.

I did feel that once Chelsea got that first goal they would run away with the game and that's exactly what happened. Credit to them.

Hi Buddy, I watched the first half of that Match and then i went to bed happly. Chelsea is my favorite Primer League club. Yes, this is first champion since Mourinho went to Inter Milian. It took Chelsea players several years to get the champion back. Additionally, in the season, Drogba became more powerful. Please note none of the 29 goals was from penity. Comparsion to Drogba, five goals from Rooney were from penlity. So Drogba is better this season.

Hi sutent, The last time Chelsea won the English Premier League title is during 2005/06 season. After that Manchester United hold the trophy for three consecutive years. Chelsea got it back this year. I think game against Wigan is Drogba first penalty for Chelsea because usually Frank Lampard would take it. Drogba goals mostly from an open play or a free kick.

Congratulation for ancelotti and all chelsea's fans. Chelsea have maintain their performance succesfully ( compared with their main rivals) at all matchs in this season so they are deserve to get that title. And they are still have a chance to get other english title if they can beat porstmouth in FA cup final next week. As i have seen with ancelotti's achievements now, it's possible to replace mourinho's memory in fans's mind.

Hi icecubic, This is a very successful season for Carlo Anchelotti. Even though he did not manage to bring Chelsea to win the dream trophy, Champion League, Chelsea can have a double this season. If Chelsea can win the FA Cup this season, it would be their first double, English Premier League and FA Cup. Jose Mourinho did not able to do it during his time at Chelsea and Carlo Anchelotti definitely would be a hero for Chelsea fans. I think Chelsea fans would always remember Jose Mourinho even though Carlo ANchelotti or the next managers manage to top his achievement. Jose Mourinho is the first manager that able to bring the English Premier League title to Stanford Bridge after 50 years and it is a special one.

Yeah ... Chelsea rocks this season. They won English Premier League title for the first time since Jose Mourinho and they can make it double because they would face Portsmouth in the FA Cup final. Their player (Didier Drogba) also won the Golden Boot award after scoring 29 goals this season. Chelsea is also the only team manage to score 100 premier league goals since Tottenham Hotspur did it in 1962/63 season.

Hi oldchem, I think everyone love to see Chelsea win the English Premier League title except for Manchester United fans. It is a big annoying to see one team win it every year. It is better if the title changing hand every season. I hope next season title would be win by other team.
